The talent that everyone loves with Josh Smith... Well, There's your results: Cal Poly 24, Wyo 20.

Cal Poly is a decent program (they have a couple wins against SDSU among others), but with a healthy Brett Smith or an emerging Jason Thompson, we win that game. Colby Kirkgaard, while probably a nice guy, shouldn't have been in the backup QB position that day. To that we can thank ACS and Adam Pittser.

I-AA was started in 1976. So technically we had never lost to a I-AA/FCS program until we fucked up against Cal Poly.

So you're saying that the difference between an FBS team full of players recruited by DC and allowed a whole hell of a lot more scholarships than an FCS team, losing to this FCS team is understandable because we were missing 6 starters? And if the guys that did show up to play that day are, as you put it, in the same talent level as Josh, are all of their scholarships getting pulled also? Let's face it, whether you like DC (as you do) or you don't (as I don't), you have to admit that it's always a gigantic fuck up when an FBS team loses to an FCS team. Maybe that's okay with your bunch of neck stompin' thugs, but it doesn't fly here.

Actually, before you jump on me, I'm only kidding about the thugs. It was a good call of your's to not play that kid, probably even better if you had him sit multiple games. In fact, I like to read your anecdotes of your coaching experiences and how they compare to the college level. Then again, I usually like McPeachy's comments as well. Okay one thing here...the sky is not falling lol.
Oregon State lost to Sacremento State 2 season ago, and finished 3-9. Then the following season (last year) was 1 of the final undefeated teams in the country and ranked #7 at one point, and a few close plays away from going to the Rose Bowl.
So yeah all those Beaver players should have been cut right? Or Mike Riley fired right?
But what about when they were one of the best teams in the country last season?

My point here is that with an experienced group of players, and a great QB, you can turn crap around and be a good program.

I loved Coach Glenn. When he was the HC we would notoriously lose to New Mexico, CSU, UNLV, SDSU, and Air Force almost EVERY year.

Our QBs were terrible! Sween, Stutzriem, Crum, Hetrick, Dean, Doss, Headley, etc. we're awful... Not even D1! The WR corps was very weak as well. Bouknight was a gift that they didn't recruit and once he was gone the production was almost none.

DC and his staff have recruited some tremendous QBs and WRs I'd say.

Since DC has been here we haven't played mid-level BCS OOC opponents... Texas, Nebraska, Boise, etc. and it will continue with Oregon and Michigan State!

DC is 4-0 against CSU... They sucked when Joe Glenn was here too. If he goes 5-0, that's legendary.

DC has been MW Coach of the Year. DC has had us in 2 bowl games.

When under Glenn did most folks feel we could win 8-9 games like this year???

Same with every football coach we've had since Roach. Tiller came close, the 96 WAC title game. And we got to 3rd in Smith's Freshmen year. But to single out DC when several other coaches have similar or worse records with the conference titles and beating BSU just ain't right.

I always laugh when you post stuff like this......you talk as if Wyoming has been a conference championship winning machine in the past. CDC has been better than most Wyoming coaches.....and you're in for a tough reality if Wyoming loses him.

15 conference titles in 119 years. Only 10 of those outright titles. 11 of them happened before 1976.....please quit acting like Wyoming is Alabama. It isn't.

Wyo is a hard place to get championship level players because it is Laramie, WY.
If we are in a recruiting battle with Wyo, CSU, and Utah, like we used to be, why would Wyo win that battle?
It's a hard sale to get people here. What it is going to take is getting a top coach, that players know they can succeed with, then they need to have some winning seasons and then then continue the tradition for as long as possible.
Wyo is trying to do that.
We got DC who was the top assistant in the country.
He got players like ACS, Brett Smith, and Thompson, along with the tons of WRs we have.
Now, they just got to put it together. A big season this season, and then follow it up with another.
For all you anti-DC people, yes the inconsistency sucks, yes he acted like an ass after the AFA game, and yes cutting Josh sucks, but if we were to start over now, who in the hell is going to come to laramie right now that can actually upgrade the talent from what DC has?
Nick Saban aint leaving Tuscaloosa folks.
We lose DC now, then like J-Rod said, we are in for a tough reality.
We are in for a good season, assuming Brett Smith stays healthy.
