Lol what a rant.

Funny that you call Mizzou a shithole. Hello...have you been to Laramie?
DC is not a bad coach, he knows how to run an offense, and get QBs to play for him.

I just don't like that he pulled the scholly of one of my friends.
I hope he wins this season, then wins more next season, and continues winning and winning.
I don't want a shit season so he gets fired then we have to start all over.
I want a great season, but don't want the guy who takes us there to get fired.

I do rant many times when I post. You like to post loads of times, I like to do it less often, with longer posts, or rants lol...

A few things.

Of course I've been to Laramie and continue to return every fall, but I am not comparing Laramie to the state of Missouri. If I was comparing, I would be comparing the University of Wyoming to to the University of Missouri, at which point I would probably still prefer the University of Wyoming. I've never been to the University of Missouri, and the only time I see their team is when they are playing at a bowl game, and I also see our Head Coach on their sidelines, WTF. But I wasn't comparing them at all. I said that he could go back to Missouri or Toledo (as he's coached there in the past) or any shithole. Meaning the two places I mention by name or any shithole. I didn't say he could go back to the shithole Missouri. I guess you just missed that. I am not saying Missouri isn't a shithole, maybe it is, I don't know.

You say DC is not a bad coach. Well, if you mean an assistant coach or an offensive coordinator, then most will agree with you. For our team, he doesn't have those roles. For our team he is a Head Coach, and in that role he is bad, based on results. For our team he doesn't know how to run an offense. Yes, we all know what was accomplished at Missouri, but guess what, he didn't bring it here. Our offense actually kind of sucks, if you use a little data point called scoring points!

I agree that he can get QBs to play for him. His problem seems to be holding on to them. I don't know if you've been following the program since his arrival, but we seem to lose most of our QBs after a year or two. Shit, if Brett's under center
this fall, he'll be in line for a gold watch.

I didn't say he'd be fired if he started winning. I'd say he'd leave. He's had one foot out the door since the second day he arrived. So if I had to choose why he leaves, I suppose I'd rather it's because we have a winning season and he takes off when his stock appears high to some other sucker school. That would sort of be like having our cake and eating it to.

Lastly, if Josh was my friend, I'd be more pissed off then you seem to be. I don't know Josh but I hate how his situation was
handled. I feel bad for Josh and I feel bad for the way this reflects upon our program. Can you look someone in the eye and say you are proud of our coach, I can't? And maybe that's MY problem. I don't just support and cheer for the team in the brown and gold uniform. I support and cheer the players, the university, the state, and yes, the coaches. He's just a really hard guy to get behind.

You said if Josh was your friend you would be more pissed off than I am.
Well, what will that do for me? Why would being pissed at DC for pulling a scholly of a friend be helpful in any way? I am bummed and not a huge fan of DC at the moment but what can I do?

And he can't run an offense for Wyo? I think he can considering Brett Smith has almost every Wyo QB school record in just two seasons.
And saying he can't keep QBs is dumb. ACS was a prima dona and left and there wasn't really much we could do about that. And if anything that just helped us, as I think Brett Smith is a lot better.
And the other kid, Adam Pittser, him transfering is a given. No matter where he was at.
Why would he willingly stay to be a 4 year back up behind someone in his own class?

Smith is starting this season and will start next season unless he bolts for the NFL.
QBs transfering out of Laramie is not a DC problem.

QBs transfering out of Laramie is not a DC problem.
Brett's a stud and if he plays the next two seasons uninjured, he may hold all the QB records at Wyoming. But an offense's success is scoring points. We have not been real good in that category. The QB is a real big key, but the goal is to score, not just move the ball.

Since DCs been here we've lost a few more QBs than the one's you've mentioned. But maybe you're right and it was more of an Arroyo problem. We've had better luck keeping QBs since that dipshit left.

My point was that we were losing QBs who didn't want to sit behind a freshman QB for the rest of their careers.
Robert Benjamin came with a chance to start as a JR the same year as ACS was here as a freshman. He left after his jr year because he knew he couldn't play his senior year.
Then getting Brett Smith, why would Pittser want to sit behind him for his entire career?

All everyone cares about on this board is winning football games right? Come November, if we aren't bowl bound, everyone will be complaining about the lack of talent. Everyone will be asking if UW can compete at the D1 level.

This is how winning football programs go about business. We need the best players in our program and if they are out of state, they need scholarships. If and when we are bowl bound this Fall, I'd like to revisit this and see what fans care about more... This scholarship or playing bowl games on ESPN in December?

The talent has doubled since the Joe Glenn era. We've got athletes to compete, MW coaches of the Year, and potential to beat the best teams in this conference. I've been a WYO fan since I was 5... Christensen has this program tracking to be back where we were in the 90's.

If this is all we have to talk about... Beat it!

I think we all want to win football games, of course, but more than that I want to be a proud of my team and the program. If it's only about winning at all cost, then all fans of all programs are chasing a losing dream, as they'll be only one Champion each year.

If our talent has doubled since Glenn and we have better athletes, why are DC and Glenn's record the same after 50 games? We're right at the point where Glenn was fired and you see this as tracking back to the 90's.

I wouldn't say the talent has doubled. But it has no doubt improved.
The toughness mentality has gone down.
Anyone remember players like Ward Dobbs? That dude was by no means the most talented guy but he was a beast of a linebacker and was tough as hell.
We need more Ward Dobbs, Brian Hendricks, and Gabe Knaptons.

And along with those 2 things, DC has had a harder schedule.
I can't remember the exact numbers but I looked them up at one point and DCs Wyo teams have played like twice as many Top 25 teams as Glenns did.
That is a huge thing too.
DCs first year along played the #2 and #4 teams along with #16 and #25.
And his second year....was rough. #5, #3, #5, and a #11.
His 3rd year, a #9 and a #7 team.
Last season was easier with only 2 teams being ranked. One being #15 and one being #21.
DC still needs to beat a Top 25 team.
But he has played 5 Top 5 teams and 8 Top 11.

People still talk about how we went into Tennessee and knocked off the almighty Vols...They were awful that season.
Let's see if DC can take a team into Nebraska with this upgraded talent and get a win.

Beating Nebraska this season would be a bigger win for the program than any win that Joe Glenn had.

But on another note....I love how every topic ends up going back to how DC sucks as a head coach.

This thread was a talk about Josh Smith getting his scholly pulled.
I talked to him today, and he said he is not coming back to Laramie and is probably going to play for UNH.

Jesus Beav, forget your ADHD meds? That post is all over the place. I decided to pick on this one though...just to further divert the topic away from the OP.

Joe Glenn & staff had some great signature wins. Yes, including your mentioned Vols game. Wyoming sucked bad that season (the year we beat the Vols) as well. Plus, it was the Tennessee homecoming, in front of 100K+ fans (myself included), and Tennessee was still fighting for a bowl game (as were we).

Don't also forget...Glenn & staff wins @ Ole Miss, here vs. Ole Miss, here vs. Vaginia, vs. UCLA, vs. bWHYu, vs. Utah, etc. DC & staff have yet to beat anyone worth a shit OOC, even mediocre OOC (like mentioned above) - and our conference is much weaker to boot. Pun intended.

Glad to hear Josh may end up at UNH. I hope he gets a shot at playing QB, if that's what he wants. All the best to him!

Preach it McPeach!
Beaver and Proud Alum have the rather short term perspective that is the gift of a young man-but it handicaps them in this discussion
I was around in the 90's (and in the stands as a kid in the 70's) and this is a damn far cry from those crews.

and our current OOC? is pathetic! No Missouri, Tennessee, Virginia to be found. We get pimped out to be used as an appetizer by Nebraska to earn some travel money and we spend it in Northern Colorado and Idaho to get a couple W's to inflate our record. Its classic bush league BS but don't get me started on Burman... :tickedoff:
Cowboyz was right, you trade your soul for a winning season and you may get one........and that is all. IF DC gets one he'll take the first offer to get out of town- and we are left with sh*t for a reputation...the end doesnt justify the means

Character counts.Connection with the fans counts. Being proud to be "Cowboy Tough" counts. In my perspective, we are now much much worse off than we were with Glenn-even if DC pulls a 7-5 miracle out of his arse. But it pains me to say that it looks to me like we'll be taking a knife to a gun fight in nearly half our conference slate

Another reason why CDC sucks big-time......

WE FUCKING LOST TO CAL POLY, a FCS school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

'Nuff Said!!!!!!!!!

My ADHD meds? Fuck you.
And if you can't see the shit I was responding to, you're an idiot. There was a question about if the talent has improved then why are DCs and Glenn records so similar.
So I responded by saying the talent is improved the toughness mentality is weaker, and the schedule has been a shit ton harder.
Then went on about the schedule being hard.
Sorry if that is too "all over the place" for you bud.

And the Tennessee thing, my point is that people justify it like it was some great win. "Little Wyoming went into an SEC school and beat Tennessee!" You guys make it seem like Joe Glenn is so fucking awesome for that and we need him back. Even you tried to justify it "They were still trying to become bowl eligible."
My ass. Tennessee straight up sucked that year, pretty sure they fired their coach after that season. Oh and beating Ole Miss was nice, but it was right after Eli Manning left.
The conference may be weaker now in 2013, but it sure as hell wasn't in 2009 when DC showed up.

And on top of that DC has not lost to CSU in the 4 years he has been here.

Any coach with half a brain could do that without trying.

Sooo we just discredit anything good DC has done?

WHAT good? WE FUCKIING LOST TO CAL POLY with that SOB!!!!!!!!!!!!! Prior to CDC, Wyoming NEVER EVER lost to a I-AA i.e. FCS school. With him, we lost to CAL POLY!!!!! Coincidence I think not.

The good we were JUST talking about!
Wyo beatin CSU 4 years straight since DC showed up.

We were literally just talking about Wyo-CSU then you turned it to Cal Poly.
Yeah losing to Cal Poly is awful, I am not denying that, but DC has beat CSU 4 straight times. Never lost to them.

And why was that? Because we had guys with about as much talent as Josh Smith starting that game and playing the entire game in our key roles.
B. Smith out at QB
Herron out
2 lineman out
1 DL out
and an LB out.

The talent that everyone loves with Josh Smith... Well, There's your results: Cal Poly 24, Wyo 20.
