Wyoming: Don't expect Jeff Tedford to jump quickly in regards to Wyoming. If Fresno State head coach Tim DeRuyter emerges in the search at Washington or Wake Forest, Tedford would likely be a strong candidate to replace DeRuyter at Fresno State.

If this is indeed Tedford's stance, I think we should be looking at our #2 option.

I wouldn't blame Tedford for holding out for Fresno, it's his alma mater and right now a better job than Wyoming. I really don't think DeRuyter goes anywhere except Washington though. Overall there are going to be fewer openings this offseason than usual which sure helps us. In fact I don't think another job opening comes up anywhere west of the Mississippi this year.

I am hearing that Stu Podasso is the #2 guy on the list.
Not familiar with him.

All of his info is on the very first post of the 2nd page of this thread. I think you will be impressed. :thumb:
It really didn't say much of anything except a couple people hope to wake up to him coming here from some community college.

You didn't read that post too closely did you? It was a joke. djm was being funny.

Personally, I think odds are pretty long on DeRuyter going to Washington. I'd be more concerned about the power vaccum a vacancy in Boise would produce.

Of course, right after I type this the rumors start flying that Matt Wells is off to Wake Forest.

Heard from someone inside Athletic department that Tedford has been Burmans #1 guy the whole time and Wyoming is pushing really hard for him and Tedford has some interest but not sure if Burman can close the deal or not. It was Wyoming going after Tedford all along and not as much Tedford reaching out to Wyoming.

We will see if ol Burman can pull this off or not. My first guess would be he won't be able to but if he does I will give him props for it.

They're going to have to come up with a package of at least $1.5M with $750K guaranteed to get past the courtesy response from Tedford.

Yeah, this exactly. Plus they will have to come up with a lot more for the assistants than they currently are paying as well. Guess we will see just how committed Wyoming is to the football team. Tedford won't take the job unless he can get quality assistants.

With any change in budget and appropriations at least two months away, Burman's going to have to talk McGinity into sticking his neck out there with him and raiding some other budgets to fund this thing. That'll be the commitment indicator.

There's nothing left to raid.

We're screwed.

If DeRuyter goes to Washington and Tedford goes to Fresno, I hope we look at Mangino. I just have a feeling it then becomes Fritz or GIlmore for Burman. I'm sure both guys would do their best, but I'm tired of on-the-job training for first time D1 head coaches...

Nonsense. There are operational and capital funds still out there, I guarantee it. Raid 'em, put the contractors and creditors on notice and restructure payments in a sustainable manner to get through the state budgeting process, then clean it all up.

Look, this is do or die for Wyoming Football. They don't risk some creative re-budgeting, you can kiss FBS Football at Wyoming goodbye.

You have no clue.

If there are big new funds coming to pay the coach, they'll come from CJC or the Foundation, not from the University budget.
