I agree that that loss wasn't Kirk's fault, he was sent in there to manage the game, which he did. He had a decent game (65% pass completion, over 5 yards when he carried the ball). We were, as normal, out-coached. DC had no faith to let him air the ball out (he had only 8 incomplete passes for the game and many of those were to prevent a sack). Cal Poly just ate up the clock and ran the ball down our throats. Which is what I hope we will be doing to our opponents this season. If we have a QB that averages 65% on passing and 5 yards a carry under Bohl's system, we'll be challenging for the conference. Still with our returners seeing the field so little and many practices closed, we really don't know what we have as far as returning QBs are concerned. It'll be fun seeing who comes out on top.LasCrucesPoke said:Really?? I mean I haven't seen him at all or anything, but Tommy and Kirk showed absolutely nothing when they saw the field. Tommy is a little bit unknown, but with Kirk, not saying it's his fault, we had our only loss to an FCS team in school history and he clearly looked like he didn't belong on an FBS field.
If Colby is the quarterback I doubt we win a game. He wouldn't have played for my high school team.cowboyz said:I agree that that loss wasn't Kirk's fault, he was sent in there to manage the game, which he did. WYO is now "Pro Style" young knows this system already. basic same calls with some additions. he'll be way ahead by summer. Smith had 14 tds? Young had 30 his senior year.. in CALIFORNIA. come on. he may be behind psychically but youre not gonna see your qb run for 500+ yards anymore this is legit drop back stuff. Smith is not a pro style guy. it comes down to Kolby or Young. just keep sleeping tho.
I know he has been putting in work "behind doors", that is where I watched him. He is not athletic, and slow. I hope I am wrong because a lot of people have pinned some pretty high expectations on this kid. I am not impressed with his arm strength at all......

like i said, this is a pro style system, we're not talking 40 yard dashes and read options, game speed and ability to get out of the pokcet when needed is there. the only thing is yeah he's behind pyschically i get that, but arm strength he has is all natural, wait till he adds the d1 weight by working with these trainers. its all good everyone has an opinion, but you cant argue stats. go look his up. HS, JC, put up numbers! and wins! first playoff win in his HS history, first bowl win in ASA history, wait till he brings bowls to WYO.. and every level everyone seems to have doubts thats when his best. keep it up!

Bad analogy above. " ...#@#holes, everbody has one, AND THEY ARE ALL PRETTY MUCH THE SAME..."
Not so for opinions.

Unfortunately there is a percentage of our population that actually enjoys the asshole. :winky:
Curious where you got your first impression.Slow Hand said:LasCrucesPoke said:I don't see any of the incumbent QBs winning the starting job, or keeping it for long if they do. JMO.
I hope this young man from Florida is a lot better than the dude we brought in from New York. IDK maybe he is a gamer, but to me he just doesn't look like he has the skill set to get it done. First impressions are never completely accurate though I understand that.
Wow, my sources tell me something totally different! I guess he ain't a physical specimen by any means, but I know there's only been one throwing session last Wednesday and Thornton dropped out while Young and Kirkagaard kept going. And by what I've been told, Young looks far superior in overall skill including arm strength.Slow Hand said:jcueva6 said:lol keep sleeping on young. already putting in work behind doors worked with nico this weekend. alot of you are messing a huge part of this.
