No. You know, this thread is so paranoid and negative that someone posted the URL to cougarboard.com, our forum site. I’m sure dozens and dozens of Cougs have read this today.

Yep, checked it out. Their thread was almost as long as this one and apparently the feeling is mutual  I even got quoted by one of them!

Go Pokes!

I'm afraid to ask but did anybody over there quote me?

I don’t care if I’m quoted, I’ll stand behind anything/all of what I’ve said.

Same here.

Their fans feel the same way toward us. Their posters aren’t saints as we’re led to believe. That must not go against an honor code or something.

I also learned on the Cougar Board we followed BYU to the MWC, and we only have 2 escalators in Wyoming. Heard that one from goat u fans. Ugh, this would be the best win in a decade if the Pokes can pull it off. I haven’t seen anything on the Cougar Board about Zach Wilson and his mothers best friend. I wonder why that is.

BYU fans say Wyoming fans are the biggest redneck fan base they’ve ever played.

Wow! Talk about a compliment? Feel free to tell any BYU fan alive that not only do I consider myself to be a good old country boy from Wyoming, but I'm also a proud Redneck! Yeah, you bet I am.

Go Pokes!

0% chance BYU comes to Laramie. I listen to Utah Sports Radio during the day and they are already saying this will likely be the last time these schools ever play each other.

This is not an issue of right or wrong guys. The agreement is clear: BYU plays in Laramie OR there they pay you a bunch of money. And it’ll happen. Trouble is, we had 9 games scheduled the next time we were slated to play and have to cancel all but three. Would you schedule Wyoming if you were us? The Pokes can beat you in Laramie and the Cougs will be lucky to be .500 in a new bigger conference. We need absolute cupcakes for non-conference and Wyoming in Laramie is anything but an absolute cupcake. Do you blame us?!

Although I can appreciate the sentiment here, 99.99% of BYU fans would not concur with your take here.

-The majority of BYU fans ABSOLUTELY believe UW is a cupcake game regardless of location
-The majority of BYU fans ABSOLUTELY do not believe they will finish .500 in Big 12 (think it will be much better than that)
-The majority of BYU fans are above having the team come to Laramie at any cost.

The game scheduled for Sept 14, 2024 in Laramie will never happen. Guaranteed.

Allow me to take this opportunity to apologize for the vast amount of Wyoming football fans who were obviously in attendance this past Saturday at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon.

Speak for yourself. You have totally missed the pint of this whole post. BYU we’re the racists who caused the whole Black 14 thing. Why don’t you apologize for thinking Eaton handled it the right way. He didn’t!!!!! He should have supporters them and the racist stance. And then you turn around and make the comment you did about us being in Oregon. You’ve got it all backwards, kid.

I stand with former coach Lloyd Eaton 1000%.

I can assure you that there are others who look at this board and comment that agree with me as well.

They just won't say so because they've been conditioned to keep their thoughts to themselves.

That's okay, I'll say it for them.

Go Pokes!

Disgusting.

Sign up a couple days before the BYU game. Post incessantly about BYU. Just Stop - you aren’t fooling anyone.

I blame Tom Burman. He went back on his word that he would never schedule byu again. He put Wyoming in a terrible position by even negotiating with the backstabbers from Provo. Anyone thinking that byu would negotiate and honor a contract in good faith are either naive to the highest power or byu fans themselves. A leopard doesn’t change its spots. So yes - the blame lies with Tom Burman and not the majority of the wyoming fanbase who saw this coming from a mile away.

If this young POKE squad somehow pulls off a w against a bunch of 26+ year olds, I say we start a go fund me to buy out the return game just in case. If the money doesn't get used, it can go to CJC or something.

BYU is that one girlfriend.

The one who tried to break up your group of friends by promising to sleep with them on the way out the door.

The one who started texting you "hi." and "i miss you" after a while.

You should not accept her booty call. She'll just f you over again.

Am I the naïve one here on this contract stuff? Is it a given that it's an immoral stain on your character to pay the agreed upon monetary amount if the plan changes or you get a better offer elsewhere?

Maybe they intended to pay the amount and not go to Laramie from the beginning...I suppose that is possible and to hear you all bloviate about it...perhaps it's probable. Who cares! That's why that clause is in these contracts.

Does this extend to cell phone or cable plans? If you get a better offer elsewhere or just signed up for whatever free doo-dad they were offering new customers, can you morally pay the fee to be free from the monthly amount? Or does this narrowly apply to college football scheduling agreements between former MWC foes?

Yes, you are. it is called negotiating and contracting in good faith. Entering into a contract with the intent not to honor the terms (and rather pay the penalties) is typically called bad faith. The 'buyout' is merely a liquidated damages provision that just helps avoid litigation in the event of breach. The provision isn't and was never intended to be an escape clause allowing a school to artificially lure another school into an agreement without the intent to ever actually fulfill the terms of the agreement.

Most of us blame Burman for poor scheduling. I need to read the contract but the b12 invite may negate or greatly reduce the buyout (the buyout isn't that big of I recall correctly but could be wrong).

A 1 and done with a prominent P5 would have been much better than scheduling byu. At minimum, you make byu play here first and even then my preference is to not do that.

Burman should have stuck to his word; he dropped the ball.

"What is Bad Faith? Someone who acts in bad faith may enter into an agreement with no intention of ever fulfilling its terms. Or he may misrepresent the quality or value of something that is being bought or sold, such as a car or home, to fool the buyer or seller into going forward with the transaction. Essentially, when someone acts in bad faith, he is attempting to deceive or mislead another person to gain some sort of advantage or benefit. Typically, bad faith attempts are seen in contract negotiations, such as paying out insurance claims, or issuing a cancellation."

Save the lecture friend, nobody here needs that horseshit.

Next time I have any thoughts I'll run them by you for approval before I hit send. Cool with you?

Yes, that is cool with me. Any thoughts. All thoughts. DM me first, and then I will respond either denying or allowing you to post more of your horseshit drivel.

Yes, yes you are. Are you kidding me? Why say you are going to make a return trip to a school, then renege on that commitment? If you are only interested in having that school play at your place then pay them money to come. Why say you are going to play the return game when you have zero intention of doing so? It unscrupulous and deceitful. BYU are bad actors. What are we supposed to do with that date in 2024 now? We're going to get screwed over because they have no integrity.

The reason for the contract is to play a home and home football game. The contract is necessary for the exact reason we’re discussing this. A party in the contract didn’t have the INTEGRITY to HONOR the contract. Yes there is a monetary payback, that isn’t the point.

The point is BYU drew up the contract with most believing they won’t honor it. Their own fans know they won’t come to Laradise.

The contract isn’t the point. The lack of integrity to not play the game is.

I don’t care about anything other than winning this damn game. Bohl can repair much by pulling this one out of his ass

They are a bunch of pussies. They have like 75 threads on their archaic, embarrassing message board about some Oregon students chanting "Fuck the Mormons". Thin skin? Did it hurt their little feelings? Have they ever heard the phrase sticks and stones... lmao.

A few more things:

1) Zach Wilson’s Mom’s best freind debacle was talked about in CB for quite some time. So bad. Although, I still wanna see a picture of the woman to find out if it was worth it 😂

2) The LDS church’s policy on blacks not being in priesthood was wrong. Period. Those 14 boys were brave to do what they did and helped change minds within the church. The coach should’ve stood with them. I don’t know a coug who doesn’t feel bad for what happened, and glad the church made the change. It was long overdue. I beg you, please forgive us (even though it happened a couple of years before I was born)🤷‍♂️.

3) Bad faith claim in the BYU contract is ridiculous. Talk to a lawyer. “Bad faith” is legal terminology and this ain’t it. In two places the Cougs specified they might be out of either game. One, if the scheduling didn’t work out then we’d ok at you money instead. Two, if a P5 conference came calling. It was never a sure thing. We have to cut our entire schedule except for 3 early games now. Be reasonable pokes. You had plenty of heads up.

4) I wouldn’t want to travel to Provo either if I’d lost 8 in a row. 🤷‍♂️ Cougs know how that feels. Utah beat us 9 games in a row, and rubbed it in our faces for like 15 years. Finally got the monkey off our back last year. Half of Cougs never wanna play the Utes again. Ever. Write’em off. Me? I like the games. I like the banter and the rivalry.
