Is Grandy Glaze Wyoming's next Dunk Town all-star?

It's in there. You have to watch the "Making Noise In The Big Dance" show. It's about 5 minutes in or so.

Kyle Alexander, supposedly UNM's top spring target, has committed to Tennessee. This might make Glaze their #1 priority.

I love this thread.

What a great season we just had.

Very sad Larry Nance Jr. will never dunk in a Wyoming jersey again.

Can't wait to see what the next season brings.

Right now Grandy is visiting Grand Canyon. That might not be a bad thing. They beat UNM this year. I'm sure he'll get to hear about that a lot this weekend.

He visits the Lobos on Wednesday. Many of their fans think he may have a difficult time getting into the PF rotation.

I still think Wyoming has the most to offer: including 35-40 minutes a game. The Lobos have a surplus of fours. Wyoming has a post rotation that is looking for that glue guy to absorb minutes and teach the young guys the value of doing the dirty work. We've got two potential fours that will be true freshmen.

Let's not kid ourselves either. When Shy signs our contract he's going to have a lot more tools that provide security(raises all around) and a large bump to the basketball budget.

It's good to see we're still on top though.

You can't have a dunk highlight thread without the Godfather of Dunk Town: Josh Davis.

Almost brought a tear..lol. That is on of my all-time favorite home games that I attended. There have been more thrilling games, but that game was just awesome. A good Utah team in town with a legendary coach. House was packed and loud.

Davis and company just ran them out of the gym. Majerus was fuming; I've never seen a face so red. The POKES crushed the Ute's will.

What a pussy. Winning is obviously not a huge priority to him. also, I thought he said he wanted to go to the tournament? Grand Canyon is ineligible for the post season.

The University of Grand Canyon.....WTF???
Somethings going on down there...I am not saying they're world beaters or anything but they are attracting guys that played D1. They landed Glaze and just a couple months ago got a commitment from former Poke Keonta Vernon. Say what you want about him, Vernon was a great get for Shyatt and could have been a great role player had he stuck it out. GCSU is going something right...

Disagree that Vernon was a great get, but otherwise agree.

Vernon really didn't show anything while here. Not a dig on him, but he was here for 1 season, and bailed. Hard to call him a "great get" when he didn't prove anything.

Don't remember too many people disappointed when Vernon signed with the Cowboys. We all know he wasn't going to be a starter but he certainly would have played this past season and would've added depth.

Disappointed when he signed? No. Many were excited to see what he would do. And after his 1 year here, it really wasn't much of anything. He played in the exhibition game a little, and then was redshirted. So, more along the lines of being disappointed that he left without ever proving anything himself.

I think he definitely could have contributed and frankly he would have started for us next year at the 4.

I say he wasn't a "big get" because he was not considered a high level recruit. We beat out Seattle and NAU for his services, mostly because he is a 6'5" PF. Personally, I liked the signing because I think height is overrated, particularly at the 4 spot. Lots of quality undersized PF's have come through the MWC (Tyson Johnson, Leonard Washington, Pierce Hornung, Keenan Young, etc.). But he wasn't considered a recruiting benchmark by any means.

Frankly, of all the frontcourt players that Shyatt has recruited that have left (which is most of them including Ajayi, Marshall, Vernon, Jones, Sellers, Haldorson, and Williams) he is the one that I was sad to see go. I knew he would end up back in the D-1 ranks, frankly I thought he would do better than Grand Canyon.

People on this board get excited for every recruit. Vernon was no different.

In the end, I think Graze was more interested in a hot environment and a big city vs basketball.

Dan Majerle as head coach and Jerry Colangelo as a team adviser can't hurt. I saw that Glaze got a tour of the Suns facilities on his visit. Laramie doesn't have anything like that.

GCU is a for-profit university and they are pumping money into athletics to boost the profile of the school. They are the only for-profit school competing in D-I. This is like if DeVry University established a central campus and started an athletics program. I am very, very skeptical of that institution and think things will go badly there eventually.
