Interesting chatter on a 5th year QB transfer

I'm all for giving the kid a chance for a season. Gives the other guys a chance to get seasoned and I would love to see a kid with a chip on his shoulder when we play csu next year.

If there is a scholarship, I don't see a reason not to. The team will be committing a scholarship that would be unused to a player who could potentially help them. If Brett had stayed it would be one thing but right now the quarterback situation will be the biggest factor in deciding whether the team is competitive or not. No one has proven themselves at the position so adding one more couldn't hurt.

Seldom does a coach come into a program and immediately change the W's & L's 180 degrees. But he can change the attitude and atmosphere. And I believe that's the staff's most immediate and definitive task. They are all both coaches and teachers from successful programs. Time will tell on the W-L record, but I'm sure you'll see a more positive all-around look within the program. Players either buy in or they don't. Those who don't won't play. Pretty simple I'd say. As for the former Ram QB, it's a toss-up imo. I think you work with what ya got.
CDC did his first year and he was an abomination of a coach. Why can't a coaching staff that actually knows what they're doing? This team Bohl inherited is arguably better than the team CDC inherited....

I'm a new fan so unsure who CDC is-the former HC? Still, I tend to disagree that they're arguably better. They lost their startin' QB and a couple of other good players. How they respond to the new coaches will be tantamount to their success. I'm hopin' for the best, obviously. Think I'll do a little more research on this group rather than commentin' on the new coaches and my familiarity with them.

Not to mention that schedule was LOADED.
@Utah. vs. BYU. vs. Texas.

We did beat a lot of bad teams, but for the most part, the teams we lost to that year were really good. And a lot of it was freshman.

I believe you just indirectly pointed out that CDC improved the Wyoming football team...

Shit I should watch what I say.... All I was pointing out was a new coach can improve the psyche of the team and that can sometimes be enough for change.

Happened with glenn...DC....and hopefully Bohl....they key will be to sustain this and not have a 5yr time frame. :coffee:

I haven't kept up with his career, but Thomas was terrible when he played UW. Never understood the hype surrounding him.

Wasn't much better at NCSU. Hell, we shut him and the sheep out 44-0.

That said, if he wants to come to the Light side of the Force, I wouldn't be against it, but I'm not holding my breath on him being the starter or anything.

the QB battle is about as unpredictable as they come. And unfortunately, not because of an embarrassment of riches.

Utah State beat Brett Smith 63-19 but I'm guessing they still wouldn't have minded him on the squad.

Yeah, because our defense's best year was in 2009 under DC but our o-line never improved much. We just had a couple of very mobile QBs.
