Interesting chatter on a 5th year QB transfer

Looks like this fan base needs to buy into this defense first philosophy as much as the players do!!

Trust me you'll enjoy winning. I sure have. Bohl will get the defense turned around week 1. Move the chains offensively and win games 17-14 & 21-17

I buy into defense-and I'm sure Uso and the guys do as well.....love watching a good defense *see Seattle Defense---sorry guys. I wouldn't question the heart-work ethic of the defense. I'm sure they are a hungry bunch and I expect a huge improvement. The point myself and others are attempting to get across is that in a high scoring league....with an offense not built like Alabama...we need a good qb.

The biggest reason I see us needing a good QB is to keep defenses on their toes. Our O line isn't good enough (no matter how good our S&C program makes them) to run at a D knowing that our only option is to run the ball. Having said that, I like your optimism Lake, but there is no way our D can hold teams in this conference to only 7-10 points on a consistent basis, we will need points to win games.

+1 Only defenses to come even close to those kind of numbers in MW history had a plethora of NFL talent on their defensive unit (Boise, TCU, Utah). Offense is a must in this league. Bohl is not playing in the MVC anymore.

EXACTLY!

We are less than a month away from seeing what we have in one of our QB recruits. We should have more info to go on for what we can expect after spring practice. I'm not worried about the QB position as much as I am some of the others.

I want a team that has the opposing team's defense in the second half looking like our's did in the 3rd quarter of just about every game we played last season. If they do, we will probably be able to put up some points in the second half this year.

Exactly! Our offensive play calling under DC did defenses a favor by either scoring fast or getting off the field fast ( screen, screen, run and punt ). At least with this new offense we can take advantage of our altitude.

I don't feel like our defensive guys are as talented as you give them credit for. Might just be me.

Quality FBS football players know how to tackle by the time they graduate high school. Schemes and coaching matter, a ton, but that certainly wasn't our only problem on D.

Also, how many starting linebackers do you see in the MWC who weigh a mere 200 pounds? Not many, but one of our best was just that.

I don't know why your not listening to me. I don't give 2 squirts what the MWC looked like, the future is here, start to believe in hard nosed defense and you will defend your castle and WIN!! N

We're listening to you buddy, we're just not believing you understand how broken we actually are.

No one is listening to you, because you are ignorant and not listening to what guys who are actually in touch with MW football are saying.

No one is saying that Bohl won't right the ship. What we are saying is that this is a tough conference that likes to score in bunches. Yes Bohl will bring in a tough defense, but it won't happen overnight. To compete in our conference, you have to be able to score along with play tough, hard-nosed defense. You need to succeed on BOTH sides of the ball, which is the point you are ignoring.

I don't think we should take on a 5th year ex-Ram. That's just a big step backwards. Time to build from the bottom up. I hate to agree with Lakes, but he's right about this.

So hard to navigate......loaded with 3 word responses to everything. Typical Rams education.....they can only handle so many words at a time.

Good ole Fort Fart State education.

Seldom does a coach come into a program and immediately change the W's & L's 180 degrees. But he can change the attitude and atmosphere. And I believe that's the staff's most immediate and definitive task. They are all both coaches and teachers from successful programs. Time will tell on the W-L record, but I'm sure you'll see a more positive all-around look within the program. Players either buy in or they don't. Those who don't won't play. Pretty simple I'd say. As for the former Ram QB, it's a toss-up imo. I think you work with what ya got.

CDC did his first year and he was an abomination of a coach. Why can't a coaching staff that actually knows what they're doing? This team Bohl inherited is arguably better than the team CDC inherited....
