In relation to Cam Coffman...and some other stuff

Kougar78 said:
I see this thread deteriorated quickly from an assessment of Coffman to who can coach and what to coach. So, I'll take this off topic and disagree with any of those who look back fondly on CK's time behind center over Coffman. I don't buy Cam being a bust, either.
Coffman's stats dwarf CK's with 3 less games. Coffman could throw a deep ball, he threw two great deep passes last week that landed right in the receiver's arms and were blatant drops. He could throw the deep out with some velocity. He threw with some anticipation.
His worst game was his first game back against SDSU. No one looked good that night.
I cringed when Kirkegaard dropped back to pass. I would have welcomed having Coffman start for two years.

I found Coffman completely underwhelming.

My basis for bringing up CK's name in comparison was not to even remotely suggest he was a better QB than Coffman...clearly he is/was not.

What I was trying to illustrate is that I felt that CK actually got more out of his limited ability than what Coffman was able to get out of what I thought was a better player --- who in my estimation underachieved and didn't have the kind of impact I was hoping for prior to the season.

Did I like Coffman at the controls this season more than CK last season? Absolutely. However, I felt he would bring more to the table than he did.

Basically you're saying we can't recruit well enough so we should be running the spread when really we should be running the triple option.

Huh?
"If we can't recruit to a standard offense like the west coast, and with the rise of the spread amongst P5 schools, we may as well only recruit for the triple option offense since only a handful of schools use it."

You got it. Thanks for helping SLOWhand.

I was also implying that if we can't recruit west coast and we can't recruit spread (just tried it), then we are a triple option recruiting school

I thought Cam would be more of a game changer for us that's all. He did have a decent season.

You people are something else. Please don't tell me what I was trying to say because you are both way off. What I am saying is.... listen carefully now....I believe that the spread gives Wyoming the best chance at success. It will allow us to put our best athletes in space so that they can make plays. Recruiting is what it is and probably will not change unless Laramie grows by a few hundred thousand and we start playing in a dome so that the weather isn't a factor. Then and only then could we secure the warm weather city folk. So take the athletes that we get put them in a system that will allow for success and run with it. Just because DC's ship sunk doesn't mean that the philosophy is dead.

But, since the spread is growing amongst P5 teams, surely we won't be able to recruit the kind of players we would need for it.

This is the thread from all threads. So many topics. I chose talking about the AD:

In Summation:

The AD should have been fired for giving a contract extension - then not soon after firing, of Heath.

The AD should have been fired for giving a contract extension - then not soon after firing, of Dickface.

That alone has to be close to a million bucks he was allowed to flush down the toilet. Inexcusable.

The spread offense isn't necessarily a category of team identity so much as it's a category of certain sets of offensive plays. I'd say just about every West Coast Offense team has "spread offense" plays in their books even though they don't consider themselves a "spread offense" team.

To argue that Wyoming should be a "Spread Offense" program because of recruiting obstacles is simply an argument for limitations.

Let me explain this slowhand since you're much dumber than I expected. By your rationale, we should run the spread because it gives us best chance to win based on who we can recruit. That ship has sailed. If we use your logic, we should probably switch to the triple option since we can't even recruit enough athletes to run a winning spread team.

You sir are an evil troll. That makes no sense. I never mentioned anything about the T/O. So you infuse your dismayed logic into my statement and try to garnish meaning out of it? You are an IDOT!

Internally Directing On Truth

It means you are misusing facts or combining them out of text!

Holla if you need more help. :-)

The fact you still can't understand my post tells me you're a stupy.

Yeah it's much more likely you used an obscure acronym than misspell idiot. Plus, "you are an Internally Directing On Truth" makes way more sense

Don't you have some basketball jock straps to wash?

I have been guilty of comparing the two as well and I want to take a step back and say that it is really about the system and not the man. I have nothing against Bohl, and I am not (contrary to what many think) a Christensen fan. I too believe he was unethical and unprofessional.

I don't think anyone would disagree too much. Its way to much fun to try to compare Bohl to Christensen to Glenn to Koenig.

Christensen had a really good chance here to make it or break it for himself. Its too bad he couldn't put it together. It really is too bad that he had no personell skills - which was pretty obvious (Where were you on that mr burman?)

What I am is a spread offense, fast break on the grass kind of a guy. I find the game to be more exciting when it is played at a faster pace. That is the main reason I migrated to the Oregon/Baylor Bandwagon. I also am of the mindset that we can be more successful here in Wyoming with a version of the Spread.

I disagree. At one point, we were very succesful with the spread back in the 90's. So many teams have adopted it now. They practice for it every day. There are so many offenses that can be run that we can be successful at. The spread could be one ( I know it looks like i contradicted myself - but hold on). I enjoy watching the spread Recruiting matters alot.

There are so many variables to take in when building a football team - we see some of them as fans - the coaches have to define them at a far deeper level than we see. They know the personalities they can recruit. They know the systems that they know.

Its tough - and its even tougher because we had a shitty season. Lets hope the recruiting class looks awsome this year and we get above .500 in 2016.

I am not saying that we need to snap the ball every 17 seconds but what I am advocating is that we spread the field from sideline to sideline and see if we can take advantage of some mismatches. For our great states's sake I hope Bohl gets it done. But my bias is for a faster paced system with a little flash! ;-)[/quote]

This off-season personal jousting is amusing to say the least. It allows us the opportunity to get lost in the "obscure " matter that exists between many of our ears! It is entirely possible that I inadvertently left out the all important letter "I" in your namesake. OR....... it is plausible that you are masking your own ignorance in an attempt to garnish what little credibility that you have on this board. Either way it doesn't really matter because your opinion is only that. It is important to you and......well............let's just say it is important to you. The nature of fan forums elicit responses from the old, the retired, the "should of been", the "has been", the dismayed, and the "MR. I was the best middle school football player in my one horse town." The question is which one are you? I know my role and I try to offer what little and "obscure" pieces of information that I can. Often times I am wrong but perhaps the caveats I offer that are accurate out weigh the trivial vomit that you contribute to this board. Other than offering a rebuttal to a statement here and an opinion there, what good are you? Is your information measured and viable to the overall health of this board? Do you contribute to breaking news or impending trends? Or do you just spill your biases into the overall pool of disention? One of these days I will reveal what I do and you sir, will come across as even more of an IDIOT than what you already appear to be. Or is it IDOT?

:o

I'm just not sure what I'd do without your insight and knowledge. I'd have to sit around and let things unfold as they do instead of worrying about the prognostications of our masked super hero known only as "slowhand". Thanks for your timely inside knowledge. Your overvalued sense of self worth is amazing. How did wyonation ever get on without you?
