I see a lot of blame pointed to vigen

There were a couple of issues:

1.) Two defensive penalties kept WSU on the field when they should have been off. Both ended up in scores. That is a game changer there.

2.) Offensive penalties brought WSU right back on the field.

3.) WSU had a defense loaded full of seniors (and a few sophomores). Their defense was #2 in the PAC 12 last year. Even though we didn't do much outside running the ball, we did move the ball pretty well against them.

4.) This offense will never work in its current configuration when trying to dig out of negative yardage. If we get a holding call, or dropped in the backfield, we might as well punt out of it and put the defense back on the field. Or Vigen should try to re-engineer his offense to allow for an occasional quick strike.

A couple of other things that I found interesting.

1.) Leach's ball control Air Raid offense is pretty damned cool. So many of those short passes chewed up our defense - that is just tough to defend.

2.) They rotated 9 wide receivers during that game. They weren't going to get tired from being on the field too much.

3.) Leach apparently fed the players a bunch of beet juice to help with the elevation (once they got to Laramie). Heard that at the game, who the hell thinks this stuff up?

4.) Leach's post game interview had some rants about loving talking about elevation to selling jackalopes to easterners.

Wait, what? 200 Yards on 14 possessions is NOT moving the ball well. It's beyond pathetic. We lost the time of possession to a quick strike air raid team. We went 3 for 13 on third downs and had 355 punting yards, none of which were touchbacks or inside the 20.

Wazzu plays San Jose State at home this weekend. I think that game will be somewhat enlightening.

:? Enlightening for what?? Washington State will have its starters out of the game in the 3rd quarter. Most, if not all, teams would roll SJSU so we will have no idea how good WSU is based on that game.

If SJSU somehow manages to put together a similar amount of offense as we did...

They will put up more yards...they will also be playing against 2nd and 3rd teamers.

Will they, though? Leach is infamous for running up the score.

His backups will do just fine running the score up against SJSU. I predict 77-28 score with most of the points for SJSU coming in the 2nd half.
