There were a couple of issues:
1.) Two defensive penalties kept WSU on the field when they should have been off. Both ended up in scores. That is a game changer there.
2.) Offensive penalties brought WSU right back on the field.
3.) WSU had a defense loaded full of seniors (and a few sophomores). Their defense was #2 in the PAC 12 last year. Even though we didn't do much outside running the ball, we did move the ball pretty well against them.
4.) This offense will never work in its current configuration when trying to dig out of negative yardage. If we get a holding call, or dropped in the backfield, we might as well punt out of it and put the defense back on the field. Or Vigen should try to re-engineer his offense to allow for an occasional quick strike.
