I predict Dave Christensen will get us back to a level of success we haven't seen in a while, either ranked, or close to ranked in the season ending polls.
He is secretive with his gameplans and not friendly with the media. So is Bobby Knight, it is part of his persona, but most colleges in the US would hire him in a second (I know, I know, DC has not achieved BK success...YET). I think DC will succeed because he has already done some good recruiting, he has brought in what I think is a very good OC for this next year. He is a hardass, and has the mentality that no team will outwork us. Training harder in the offseason, and Playing harder and smarter during the games is how we are going to compete with ranked teams. I think he has the system to succeed, the drive to succeed, and he is willing to make changes if something isn't working.
In his first season we went from having some of the worst special teams in football, to winning close games with special teams. We went from underachieving to overachieving overnight. Given a little more time recruiting and I think the talent level and depth will catch up with the system and coaching ability and we will all be satisfied.
I remember when some fans thought Tiller would not lead us to success, his contract was not extended, and we have never recovered yet. DC is smart enough to seek advice from Tiller, and even Lubick, to find out what is needed to be successful on the front range.
I guess I missed something regarding "lying" and Eric Smoldt calling him on it?
I think DC is a tough guy, tough coach, with a good system, and he is willing to make changes when he sees they are needed. If down the road DC succeeds and gets a bigger offer, I think with Gregg Brandon in place we might have an heir apparent, and can keep some continuity for once. I also like that along with Brandon (who has UW experience) and Greener, we are adding more coaches with UW experience like the younger Ray.
I truly believe that UW is on the right track. I felt that way about Glenn after a couple years as well, so lets hope I am right this time.
