Getting excited in the off-season on the hopes of being good, and stealing a few more wins than we should, diamonds in the rough excelling, etc.

But, after graduating almost 30 years ago.... I'm like others, tired of the sunshine pumping.

I went back and started reading message boards from when Mike Shula coached Bama before Saban took over. Shula got dealt a bad hand and couldn't figure out how to make it better.

Saban's sound bytes on what inherited reminds me of what we deal with year in and year out, it seems like. Except we make no changes or lower our standards.

The respected Nevada sport writer had the Pokes something close to #9 finish..unfortunately sounds about right for this year. Unbelievable that New Mexico was #1, UNLV #2 and NDSU at #3.

Based on your graduation year, I'm very much in your generation. I have to say, I feel the same as you.

I've become a lot more detatched from UW athletics than I was in those days and even in the 20-teens. UW as an outlier remote athletic program competing at or close to the highest levels was something that I just took for granted. I'll always have the memories I guess.

Almost double that time for me. My casual wardrobe consisted of everything Wyoming and my cars were covered in stickers but no more.

While I never quit watching, the past decade plus has become attending one football game in Laramie or on the road. Last year it was at Akron simply because it was close enough to visit after a trip to Cooperstown and I felt that it was reasonable to expect a win. This year it could be UNC in Laramie or a trip to El Paso since I have never been inside the Sun Bowl and those are 2 expected wins.

Have done less than 10 hoops game in Laramie in the past 20 years and none since early Shyatt. I dislike what was done to the AA so much that it doesn’t entice me to make a special trip. I do appreciate what Wicks is doing with the program and will make a special trip to attend if a late February game means something in the standings and potential postseason.

I did move away from the region several years ago so that really was the start of nails in the attendance coffin. The way college athletics is going has added more nails to the coffin and the fat lady is singing a dirge.

I will always love the Cowboys but the joys have been so few as compared to the overwhelming number of gut punches in my lifetime.

I’d have NDSU #1, New Mexico #2, UNLV #3 at this point.

I do think we are probably better than UTEP and Northern Illinois at this point. So I guess there’s that to look forward to.
