I've been reading some earlier threads about Shyatt's recruiting and how it may not quite measure up to Schroyers. Look, was Washington a dominating force? Yes. But both he and Gilmore were cancer on that team last year. Ask the players. I have complete faith in Shyatt--anyone that knows anything about bball ought to recognize that Shyatt is a hell of a coach. If you want to learn how to coach defensive basketball, you consult Shyatt. But here's the other thing about Shyatt. He is a leader of young men. He is the kind of coach that if you were the parent of a talented high school senior you would hope your son would want to play for. You would know that your son not only had the best chance of developing as a basketball player but as a person. On the recruiting front, this is eventually going to pay off. It has been somewhat of a slow start--but this is going to pay off. It is a process. Our current juniors were Shyatt's first recruiting class, and a class which had a very short window due to Shyatt just being hired. And these guys were thrown into the fire--they have had to contribute immediately. Not so with last year's class. I like where uw bball is headed: recruiting smart players, with ability, but who also have character and who will work hard and who will be coached up. If I were AD, I'd ink Shyatt as many years as he'd be willing to be inked up. There are some good years ahead for Wyo BBall.
