I hate this football season.

Like no other. This is the most miserable son-of-a-bitch ever.

So, I am (in all UW fan fashion) shifting my focus to.....wait until next year! Well, that and basketball.

Although the football schedule OOC is a bit tougher (home vs. Northern Illinois, at Nebraska) - I like our QB (Allen), I like our O-Line, and I like our RB's (Hill, Evans, Tapscott, Overstreet) next year better already.

I feel your pain McPeachy. But let me ask you this...

If Someone told you we could have a 0-12 season if it meant going 8-4, 9-3, 10-2, etc. the next few seasons with a true foundation of players who want to be here and win for Wyoming. Conference championships and a possible top 25 ranking?

I played football for 22 years from pee-wee until I retired 2 years ago. I have played for 11 head coach's in my lifetime. Which is probably more than anyone on this forum... I have had the privilege of meeting the past 3 coach's for Wyoming. 2 of them I would no doubt play for, the other....well. So what makes Bohl different?

I will say this, Bohl is cut from the Osborne cloth. Bohl has a vision of where this program needs to be and is willing to build it, he is not looking to use Wyoming as a stepping stone. He truly wants the challenge of building Wyoming football back to prominence. I can see it, I can feel it, I could tell from the moment I met him. We have a unique coach with the ability to do this. If Bohl can't get it done, then Wyoming is done. Period.

I have family ties to the team. The players still trust Bohl and Co. So, whatever is being sold, players are still buying in.

We still have a chance at bowl eligibility this year. We just have to finish the way we started, but opposite.

Beg your pardon?

You don't think our O-Line, RB's, and QB play will be better? Surely our D can't be any worse either...
Nah!! We've still got half the season left. Save it for January

Well - sure, but regardless. 0 & 6 is actually 0 & 6...with Nevada, USU, BSU, CSU, SDSU, and UNLV left to play. If we are lucky as hell...like powerball lottery lucky, I see 3 wins of the 6 left. Which still leaves us at 3 & 9 - which is still horrific.

Basketball will surprise this year. In a positive way, of course. Football has surprised as well.

0-6 with a strength of schedule at 118... holy shit that hits hard.

Even with the youngest, most inexperienced team in college football, you would think you could still piece together a win or two. This is uncanny.

I realize we aren't a "Big School," but when I look at teams like Air Force, Boise, USU, etc.. all lose starters/upper classmen etc and always are able to compete, it just makes me scratch my head. USU had their FOURTH string QB last year lead them to winning season and bowl game. Here is he again. Where did we go wrong? This "inexperience" card is getting tiresome. We are on game 7. No more inexperience excuses. I was going back and forth between the Utah/Cal game and the UW/AFA game. It was evident the grand canyon sized chasm between MWC and P5 schools. Not even close.

And what a tragedy that BSU lost to, of all teams, a mediocre at best BYU team.

That's what makes this situation even tougher to accept.

That and the coaches knew our depth issues heading into the off-season and were in the best situation to assess the roster talent. The answer we got - - the coaches underestimated our level of talent...

As another poster stated, its tough watching us struggle when similar schools have trouble recruiting top shelf talent (Army, Navy, Air Force, etc.) and can still find ways to produce on the field.

Like others, I'm frustrated by our continued football struggles. I love and support WY, UW, and our D-1 student athletes.

Hopefully, this football season will be long-forgotten by astounding success.

Every year I say the defense can't get worse, and then by God they somehow manage to get worse, so I'm done saying that.

I completely understand what you are saying...caught myself saying that some as well.

They probably can get worse than they are right now, because after all, they are under the incredible tutelage of the worst DC in the history of DC's.

People who have coached college sports have been telling me those things for years. At Wyoming and most other places that don't have money, the vast majority of them have been lying.

I don't think so. We've been fans of an embarrassing football product for a long, long time. I look at Utah State, Temple, Ohio, San Jose State, Baylor, Minnesota, San Diego State, South Carolina, Cal, CU, Louisiana-Lafayette, or UMass.

They were all bottom of the barrel and have found their way out. Football competitiveness doesn't always just rely on a shitty coach or succession of shitty choices. Perhaps a new Athletics Director could make a difference in prioritization and allocation of resources or have a basic competency to hire a good coach or two.

Utah State and San Jose State were really, really bad at playing football. Wyoming is now on that level of historic significance. But I don't think we're all fans of a program that solely hinges on the last ditch efforts of one person. I dare say that would be short sighted and unproductive. Unless we're like Purdue or NMSU now. If that's the case, then forget it.

Though oddly enough, this DC dials in on Air Force's option attack fairly well. Outside of that, a rollercoaster ride comes to mind (one that is being built while riding it), but oddly seems to have Air Force's number.

The OC, well, I think we may be looking for a new one going into next year. I'm sure Vigen is a nice guy, but his inability to adapt the offense to what the defense is doing is staggering.

This right here is what kills me. I will always support whatever version of Wyoming football is on the field, but this is an historic low. As I stated after the EMU debacle, it's time to watch the game at 5% fan level and 95% analyst level, and look for those slight improvements. It sucks, and is painful, but this too shall pass.

When does basketball start again?

Wyoming is 0-6, Bob Stitt is 3-3 (two home losses).. not too fond of this year myself.
Stitt for OC! I would love to have the guy here. I doubt Bohl would ever want to think outside of the box offensively like that but he would be a good get imo.
