I am concerned about the CSU game...

I was able to watch the UNM game last night on Root. If CSU decides to run the ball at us, I fear that we could be in for a long day, especially if they are then able to set up the play action game. This said, I don't think they can stop Smith and Co, even if their hobbled LB makes a go of it.

This game could come down to turnovers and special teams...but then again, what game doesn't?

the air force game

From what I've seen of the sheep, they prefer a more straightforward downhill running game, rather than going with the option style running we've seen from UNM, Air Force, Nebraska (until Martinez bruised his shoulder), and Idaho I think.

If they can hit Nwoke and company down low before he gets to the line of scrimmage, they're not going to get very far. And from what've I've seen of Garret Grayson, he doesn't do much with the deep ball. He does more with the short dink and dunk style.

that dink and dunk stuff is how idaho started to burn us toward the end of the game

Texas State exposed our defense with their downhill running game. I think no doubt CSU puts points on the board. If the offense doesn't turn the ball over I like our chances. A few turnovers and we could be in serious trouble.

People need to take it easy about the New Mexico game. We held the top rushing team in the country to more than 100 yards below their season average. Our offense completely dominated them. We left 11 points on the board that 9 times out of 10 we get (the Herron drop and the Norman TD that turned into a FG). We had a disastrous turnover that we don't usually commit, which was the single play that gave NM life. Despite 3 critical errors, we still won a conference game against a well coached team on the rise. We beat a team we were supposed to beat, and the final score wasn't really indicative of the level of play between the two teams.

Wyoming may give up a few points this weekend because that's what Wyoming does. We don't have a dominant defense, but I can promise you they're not going to give up more points than our offense will score on these clowns. Our one bad game has kept people skeptical, which is okay. Either way, CSU is not a good team, and rivalry or not, Wyoming is going to kick their ass.

Wyoming 53, CSU 27

That was also in garbage time against the 2nd and 3rd string players.

These are some of the almost identical statements made by a number of fans prior to the Texas State game. We are not a good enough team to simply show up and beat CSU. CSU has some talent and IMO will likely finish above New Mexico in the final standings. We will have to play a good game to come out with the win. A few turnovers by our offense and we could be in trouble.

I'm hoping for a 44-0 repeat but I'm expecting a close game.

the thing is.....the 44-0 year we were not a 44-0 team (unless the score was reversed) so when it comes down to it we just have to play this game for what it is

we all know that the BW is a different beast than the rest of the year

Didn't you say the same thing (I am concerned about...) before the Texass State game? Uh oh. :(

Everything said so far above correct. The 7 point betting spread too big. Should be 1 or 0. Errors or big breaks will determine game, IMO.

I'm not sure what to make of the sheep. I was pretty surprised by their effort, or lack thereof, in the San Jose St. game. I guess when it comes to the Bronze Boot, you can throw the records out for the most part anyway. If the Texas State game taught us anything, it's that Wyoming can't just roll the helmets out against anyone. I think Wyoming is the superior team, and I have they show it. I can't stand losing to the sheep! I said it sucks....to be....a CSU Ram.....

attack early and often, take chances down the field and (this is to Herron) catch the football!!!!
I think we'll be fine, predictions coming tomorrow

he broke off so many YAC early in the season i think he's too concerned where he's going with the ball instead of just getting it

kinda like when alvester broke off a couple of good runs without getting touched through the lane and he would start getting fancy feet that would result in a few TFL

i'm sure he'll get it under control......he's too good of a receiver to not get his stuff in line

I hope so. Herron is an animal. When he catches that ball in the open - nobody is going to catch up with him. Rufran is a beast too - we have a great WR corps - they seem a bit demorialized right now. Rufran's taken a beatin this year though.

Rufran needs to be healthy. He has definitely taken a beating.

I can see the Pokes absolutely blowing out the sheep saturday, and I could see it being a close game.
But worrying about our rush D against CSU doesn't make sense. They are not a better running team than NM. And we held NM's run offense to more than 100 yards less than their average.
Yes I know they have played a weak schedule and that is why their run O looks so good, but it's still better than CSU's.

The Pokes will be pumped up. It's the Border War.
It seems when this team comes out pumped up, they are damn hard to beat.
They need to learn how to play with the lead.
If they get up on CSU 21-0 like they did NM, they need to keep the gas on like they did AFA.
Get up BIG time on these guys.
We have too many Colorado players to not be inspired by the Border War.
This game is going to be awesome.

Yes, Wyo held UNM to 100 below their season average, but it also gave up 100 more than their season average through the air. I wouldn't necessarily agree that is a "victory."

I do think the UNM game could have easily turned into a Wyoming rout had Herron held onto that ball, but he didn't and it was a close game.

I think the key, as always for this Wyoming team, is to come out firing on all cylinders on offense. If Wyoming comes out fired up and scores on its first few drives, I think you see the CSU moral drop rather quickly in light of recent Border War history. If Wyo comes out and fizzles out on its first few drives, it will be a one score game.
