Hunter Thompson is not going to Creighton.

Let the hype machine begin again.

I don't know the details of the Shy retirement, but I always felt and have heard that he was extremely disappointed to lose Hunter. Maybe Hunter didn't like the low scoring offensive style of Wyoming and does like the ideas of our new head coach.

Hunter is back on the board for 2017. I sure as hell hope he picks the Pokes.

Stay in state Hunter and become another Wyoming basketball legend in the mold of Marcus Bailey and Kenny Sailors.

I officially take back all the smack that I (and others) talked in other threads after we didn't get him  . Come to UW!

In all reality I'd be surprised if he chose us, but here's to hoping.

There is a subliminal post on the other board by CUP with a title "Going to be a great day for Cowboy basketball soon". FWIW.

Hunter seems really impressed with what Nance is doing in the NBA, and I know that he's a big Edwards fan.

I know we are all speculating that he's coming home since Wyoming was the other team in his final 2, but what if he got interest from Kansas? That's been his dream school all along. If they got in his ear about a possible offer, that could've been the reason he decommitted.

And that's why verbally disowning a recruit after he commits to a different school is not the smartest idea. Things change. But don't be surprised if he's well aware of the "**** him" attitude on Wyoming fan pages after his Creighton commitment (not necessarily saying you)

He would jump at a Kansas offer immediately!

There's a very real threat of him going to a Utah school. His aunt lives in St. George, and he's played AAU out there for years. He's very close to a cousin that is most likely going to BYU. I don't think Hunter would go there, but I wouldn't rule out any Utah schools.

If he does commit, some of you folks have some explaining to do...

I hope he fails miserably.....if true.

Fuck him then. Why would you root for anyone who just spit in your face and asked you if you liked it?

...But this kid just thinks he is bigger than the state and I bet he has never had anyone tell him differently. Maybe he is.

But make no mistake, if he fails I will join the laugh brigade.

Thompson and Stewart could have been legends here, a great 1-2 punch. Piss on it if he doesn't have loyalty to home state. He will have a rude awakening I think going from 2A competition to D1. He will need a redshirt for sure.

Fuck him. He is no JMaC

Not a lot of kids want "messiah to turn around the fate of the program" on their shoulders as a freshman.

He and his family should move to Omaha since it's so great there.

Clearly, that has already been realized by everyone. Interesting you took the time to quote / post all that though - which in my opinion, is equally, if not more pathetic than the original posts. Almost like you are trying to make things worse and sway the kid to go anywhere BUT Wyoming. That is poor form.

Further - Hunter is human, surely he realizes the amount of pride fans have in everything Wyoming (especially athletics), and the heated mistakes / posts, that people make are out of context and snap-judged statements.

Well said!

Do you think it's better if we all said, "who cares"?

Clearly everyone who commented wanted him to join the Wyoming team. If we didn't care or if he wasn't that good, there wouldn't even be a post by anyone. However, I hope anyone realizes it's the passion for their team and not necessarily the person. Remember Lebron leaving Cleveland? It's a natural response to feel betrayed, you're not good enough Wyoming. I'm sure he'd feel resentment too if his scholarship was rescinded before he signed. Hell, maybe that's what happened at Creighton, who knows.
