Dino just confirmed that what I heard hunter say is right. He's taking Hathaway for his first year and probably red shirting. What a sacrifice! Huge! Great interview

This is huge! Greyshirting, if true, allows for a better balance of the classes. While it no doubt stinks having to wait until 2018-19 for Hunter to play, it's great timing for him to come in at the same time as Herndon, Dalton and Barnes are leaving.
 
Even if he wasn't greyshirting, I doubt we would have seen Hunter get court time in the 2017-2018 season, I think he would have redshirted. He is still pretty lean and a year in the weight room could make him even more dangerous for UW going forward.
 
Hunter is the man!! The fact he is grey shirting makes me think we are in on another high-profile recruit.

2018 is the year we play in the Cayman Islands Classic and a big opportunity to build a pre-season NCAA tournament resume. We're going to be stacked that season.

Here's the 2018 roster, if he goes that route. If Mueller redshirts this year, push him back a year.

Seniors: Justin James, Buddha Jones, Jordan Naughton
Juniors: Austin Mueller, Andrew Moemeka, Cody Kelley, Sam Averbuck
Sophomores: Maldonado, one more(Parker Stewart would look nice in this spot)
Freshmen: Hunter Thompson and four other recruits.

I guess I should have said grey shirt vs walk on. I haven't seen anything that says grey shirt other than posts on here. I have interpreted articles as he'll be a walk on freshman then get a scholarship as a sophomore.
 
Hunter grey shirting is a Wyoming native sacrificing to setup the program to become a national powerhouse. This is nothing short of remarkable. I can't even believe this is happening right now. The best part about this is they can get him scholly when they free up and I'm sure that's what'll happen. Hunter is the man!!! Says a lot about this kid to have this sort of vision without ego. Team player already. Hit up the weight room and the books my man. Grow even more then smash it when you get to the court!!! Native son to the rescue.
