I was involved with AFL football for a couple years and I have had family play. The salaries are garbage. The "high profile" players made 50-60k or so. The majority of the team was in the 20s (as of two years ago). My buddy had a real day job and playing fotoball was literally just for fun. Th AFL is not somewhere Smith wants to be. He is better off getting his degree and moving on.
The CFL isnt "much" brighter. http://cfldb.ca/faq/compensation/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The NFL is the place to be. If you love the game that much, long term it may be best to get into coaching and see if you can land a gig coaching later. Long term it is better for your family and health. Although Javon Bouknight is still making crap as an asst at USU. $55k a year or so. :thumbdown:
I loved B Smitty. I seriously will miss seeing him in a UW uniform. Looking back, (hindsight being 20/20) I think he would be in brown and gold in 2014 if he had to do it again.
