Comedic gold. You realize most of your post are anti Tom Burman posts...which is fine. I guess you haven't noticed the increased attendence recently either. Not like it used to be, but better than we've seen in years. And you probably know Wyoming has sold out its allotment to the MWC tourney and have purchased tickets from other schools. Probably not the old crowd you speak of, but those Wyoming fans who attend will most likely have a good time.
Lastly, Larry Shyatt >>>>>> Steve McClain.
Peace,"
Suppose maybe most of my posts where I mention TB have come across negative since I am not impressed my him as an AD.
As for making any comparison of Shyatt to McClain or vice versa, in my book they are both good coaches but have different philosophies on coaching and each appears to be able to get the most out of his players. Oh, I know McClain had "thugs" and played "street ball" (don't recall Jimmy if you used those terms or not in any of your previous posts but others certainly have); seems to have won quite a few games, won a couple of conference titles, been conference coach of the year, and made post season play with those "thugs". (I would have to go back into newspaper archives to see how many of McClain's "thugs" had court appearances and thereby would meet my thinking of what a "thug" is.)
And Jimmy I certainly can't argue with you about attendance appearing to be increasing (although I wouldn't base any opinion on that on what Dave and Kevin might pass through as announced or what is reported in the day after press reports--there has been quite a difference in the past several years between reported and actual butts in the seats). I think the determining factor about whether we will continue to see significant long term increased attendance remains to be seen; i.e., what will it look like if we have a couple more home losses to conference teams? Has the increased crowds at the past few games been the result of jumping on the band wagon? Or, will these fans come back for the long haul (IMHO it will still be a couple of years before Shyatt really has this program turned around).
And Jimmy I can say that for the most part the "old crowd" I used to attend tournaments with had fun even if the tournament wasn't in Vegas. Again IMHO if tournaments must be played on home floors it at least should be based on some sort of rotating basis. Oh and sorry to be negative but, I don't think I have seen where TB has been pushing for that.
Be assured, I will keep reading (as long as my sight holds up and I can still operate on of these machines), smiling, and yes sometimes even laughing. Heck, I do that on political blogs too but then Obama elicits quite a few negative feelings in me!
