How is it going burman fan club members?

I know how hard, it is for burman lovers to hear how he sucks! go head and bring the win streak up, that's big time basketball vs that crappy non conference schedule! here, is a fact for burman lover, if the CBI was not around cowboy basketball would have never made any post season play since Lee Moon was here! I do want to help you burman lovers out! I will create a twitter account called Tom Burman the clown! and all ten of you can follow it. Tom Burman is a (POS) I am right and all burman lovers are wrong, I guess CSU having a better basketball program is okay now!

Whats funny is he calls all of you(and now me since I have responded) Burman Fan Club and Burman lovers but looking over threads and posts I see very little discussion let alone praise for burman on this board. Its only when fishing comes here with his same post over and over that people respond. I don't see anyone loving Burman just saying he has done some good things and some not so good. Fishing, if you want people to take you serious you should join in other conversations from time to time then bring up a specific complaint about Tom Burman from time to time. People might consider what you have to say. But I have a feeling you don't care about being taken seriously you are just a troll who got his ass kicked by Tom Burman.

I LOVE when I see a thread started by wyoming fishing. Both his comments and all of the replies crack me up. Pure comedy every time.

Do any of y'all know Kwame Harris?

He's the player who got into a barfight in New Orleans over his boyfriend.

He shouldn't worry too much. Manti Ta'o will be in the NFL soon.

Show me where someone was giving Burman praises. Some might like him, some might dislike him but all you do is complain and that is why we call you an idiot.

BTW, you are an idiot.

Have to admit I get a smile and sometimes a good laugh out of some of the comments on this site. I don't post often because I realize my opinion is just like everyone else's; and you know what they say about opinions? I am not a member of any TB fan club; in fact I believe he should have been sent down the road for his Heath fiasco and what that has done to UW men's BBall. IMHO (again you know about opinions)TB is rather mediocre as far as ADs go. Just so you know where I am coming from, I was a long time season ticket holder but now am not and only go to a few select games where I think I will see some good competition; had a streak of attending some 20+ conference tournaments in a row but gave up on going to them after the tournament moved back to Vegas after Denver (don't buy off on holding a tournament continuously on someone's home court just because there are other things to do there). Also, I thought McClain was a good (notice I did not say great) coach and in fact I believe that had he had the watered down OOC schedules we now play he would have fairly consistently been up in the 20 to 20+ winning season area.

As for this particular post, I too remember TB saying after he brought his buddy in to replace McClain how we would be winning MW championships and playing post season in a few years. Frankly for me post season in BBall is either the NCAAs or NITs. I am still waiting for that post season play.

As for a comment above about wyofishing not appearing during the winning streak. Why would anyone who has been a fan for many, many years (I assume he has been but might be mistaken) want to make any kind of comment such as the real season begins in conference play or such want to post on a site and be criticized as not being a true blue fan. Sort of makes me think about walking out of BBall game here after McClain's team had beat CSU with a couple of guys in the Cowboy Joe Club and hearing one make a comment "well that win hurts us in trying to get rid of McClain". Sort of points out that there are fans of all sorts out there; some don't like the AD and some don't like the coach!

Would nice with my getting up there in age to see the AA packed again but then with the programs really going down in the dumps the I probably will not get to see that; and then again it wouldn't be as much fun as it used to be attend games and to travel to tournaments (and some away games) with the old crowd (most of them game up there season tickets a couple years before me--I stuck it out through Heath's next to last year). And besides what is so special about watching UW men's basketball games in that "hole in the ground with cement in it" (TB's statement on SLL before a recent women's game.

Imagine I will keep visiting these sites and smiling at some of the comments and even laugh at some (preseason prediction of 27-3 is one such instance).

Comedic gold. You realize most of your post are anti Tom Burman posts...which is fine. I guess you haven't noticed the increased attendence recently either. Not like it used to be, but better than we've seen in years. And you probably know Wyoming has sold out its allotment to the MWC tourney and have purchased tickets from other schools. Probably not the old crowd you speak of, but those Wyoming fans who attend will most likely have a good time.

Lastly, Larry Shyatt >>>>>> Steve McClain.

Peace,

Suppose maybe most of my posts where I mention TB have come across negative since I am not impressed my him as an AD.

As for making any comparison of Shyatt to McClain or vice versa, in my book they are both good coaches but have different philosophies on coaching and each appears to be able to get the most out of his players. Oh, I know McClain had "thugs" and played "street ball" (don't recall Jimmy if you used those terms or not in any of your previous posts but others certainly have); seems to have won quite a few games, won a couple of conference titles, been conference coach of the year, and made post season play with those "thugs". (I would have to go back into newspaper archives to see how many of McClain's "thugs" had court appearances and thereby would meet my thinking of what a "thug" is.)

And Jimmy I certainly can't argue with you about attendance appearing to be increasing (although I wouldn't base any opinion on that on what Dave and Kevin might pass through as announced or what is reported in the day after press reports--there has been quite a difference in the past several years between reported and actual butts in the seats). I think the determining factor about whether we will continue to see significant long term increased attendance remains to be seen; i.e., what will it look like if we have a couple more home losses to conference teams? Has the increased crowds at the past few games been the result of jumping on the band wagon? Or, will these fans come back for the long haul (IMHO it will still be a couple of years before Shyatt really has this program turned around).

And Jimmy I can say that for the most part the "old crowd" I used to attend tournaments with had fun even if the tournament wasn't in Vegas. Again IMHO if tournaments must be played on home floors it at least should be based on some sort of rotating basis. Oh and sorry to be negative but, I don't think I have seen where TB has been pushing for that.

Be assured, I will keep reading (as long as my sight holds up and I can still operate on of these machines), smiling, and yes sometimes even laughing. Heck, I do that on political blogs too but then Obama elicits quite a few negative feelings in me!

There have been a lot of people (I'm not saying anyone of you) But a few who have tried to compare the so far success of Shy and Mac. Heres the down low on each ones first season and a half: Shyatt, season one: 21-12 CBI lost second round. McClains first season: 18-10 Lost in first round of NIT (more than likely would've been CBI had it existed then.) Moving on, Shyatt currently 15-4, McClain 11-8. Overall: Shyatt with a 36-16 record over McClains 29-18 record. Plus we're looking at a postseason possibilty this year , where in Mac's second year, we got nothing.

Hey, sometimes for good reasons you throw a curve, and it is a good pitch, but the damn thing gets hit out of the park. In general, I think TB has done well. Even the Heath debacle. At the time, I thought it looked like a good call. During Schroyers assistant tenure at uw, the players liked him, considered him the best coach and a better coach than McClain. Moreover, many in the coaching fraternity viewed Schroyer as an up-and-comer. Hey, it didn't fly and TB fired him and then managed to land one of the classiest, most knowledgeable coaches in the land, avoiding hiring the disaster that Gillespie ended up being. And I also think the way in which TB and the president went after DC was thoughtful and effective, who at the time was widely regarded as one of the best offensive coordinators in the land and one of the top candidates for a head coach position. Will it ultimately prove a good hire? Journey is still out.

For what its worth, I'm with wylrae. Maybe because we are both older. I am disgusted with Burman. Under his leadership the Pokes have no vision for excellence like the University once had. I kept returning to this issue in my post because I believe it is the critical deficit at UW right now. Until it is fixed, everything is in disrepair. Mr. Burman needs to admit to himself that, at best, the program has plateaued under his administration, and he and the program would both benefit from a fresh start.
Like wylrae, I decided to refrain from the topic because I feel I had made my point, and all I really want to do is support the Pokes-not bitch. Besides there are some opinions that, when expressed on this board, insure you will get attacked and questioning Tom Burman's leadership is one of those topics.

Pretty dishonest framing of the criticism that was occasionally expressed towards McClain and his players. Very, very few people called the team thugs and it never happened during the winning seasons you refer to with Uche, Ugo, McFall, McMillan, Straight, Richardson, Davis, Bailey, etc. (some of them for only one of the conference titles, etc., but those were the key components in the conference title seasons). The only time it happened was much later and surely I don't have to remind you of the incident involving tonight's opponent.

The streetball criticism was far more common and while probably overstated, was simply a criticism of the style of play. McClain's teams frequently finished in the bottom 2 in the MWC in A/TO ratio. The offense did not create a lot of good looks off of ball movement (neither does our current offense, but I digress).

Having said that, I liked Steve McClain and he was a far better coach than his successor (Heath). Burman's decision to hire Heath Schroyer (a classic case of cronyism) was the worst individual coaching hire I can ever remember at UW or any of our conference peers. The destruction of the basketball program under his watch combined with the complete lack of top level success in the department (no MWC titles during his tenure) should have led to a change in leadership, but we have zero expectations at the University of Wyoming.

Of course, we can't blame Schroyer anymore. Only one of his recruits has been on the court during this mid-season collapse and that player is usually the best player on our team (not his best night tonight, but still).

I don't think either the DC or Shyatt hire can really be criticized on an individual basis. Both had excellent resumes and there were reasons to believe they could succeed. Results have been decidedly mixed for both however.

The biggest problem is simply that at some point there needs to be results somewhere, anywhere. Zero MWC titles under Tom Burman in any sport. That is humiliating. Our only chances come from TJ and Legerski and each of those are Wyoming guys whose tenure predates Tom Burman. Other than Schroyer (who was an obviously poor hire from the beginning), I can't find fault with his decision making in terms of his hires, but in the end results should matter and the results are awful, especially considering the watered down nature of the MWC now (doesn't apply to Men's BB obviously, but in most other sports the departures of BYU, Utah, and TCU weakened the league considerably).

For all Burman lovers looks, like he let you down! He got all your hopes, up with sh## he schedule in the non conference, and you all bought in the hype with this team! you thought this was a great cowboy team! now what do you think now? 2-5 in MWC, soon to be 2-6 with a blowout loss at CSU! You cant spell burman's name without saying CBI
