Home Opener vs. Montana State

Hi all. Bobcat fan in Cody looking forward to returning to Laramie for the first time since the Oregon game.
Kind of hard to figure out how good the Bobcats will be this year as they took last year off and changed the head coach.

Personally, I think the Bobcats will be in the top tier of the Big Sky Conference. I also think the Cowboys will be in the top tier of the MWC. While I'd like to think this might be an upset in the making, I think this'll be much like many of the Bobcat "play-up" games. Closer than expected by the experts but not enough to win.

Bobcat fans travel well and I would expect a good showing for the pre-game and the game.

Come on over to Bobcatnation.com and say hello.

Any information on if this game will be televised?

I've got a good friend who graduated from MSU in Denver. I wonder if he will attend the game, but he didn't even attend the CU game where MSU won!

Here’s to a great game. Watch as Vigen’s QB throws for 450 yards lmao

In all seriousness, I think he'll be much better HC than OC. Still, 450 yards passing from a Vigen-influenced offense would be hilarious and mind blowingly frustrating (other than that means we'd probably be on the ropes).

What gives? Folks over at bobcatnation.com discussing purchasing tickets and where in the stadium would be the best deals.

I noticed this:

Pokes opened 2019 at home against Missouri and didn't sell out.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/game/_/gameId/401110728

Attendance: 26,037

Capacity: 29,181

When they played Idaho a couple games later it was closer to a sellout

https://www.espn.com/college-football/game/_/gameId/401117504

Attendance: 28,814

Capacity: 29,181

Does Idaho really travel that well? I'd think that Poke fans would be a little more excited about a game vs Missouri. Looks like the Idaho game was the biggest draw that year. That just seems odd to me.

I think we hadn’t played P5 teams all that well and people might have been sick of getting blasted. Missouri win fuels excitement and Idaho game has good attendance because of it.

That makes sense. Nothing like a big win to stir up the interest.

Labor day weekend and one of the last chances to enjoy the outdoors before winter and school sports get going. I'd also guess we lose quite a few students who go home for the long weekend. WSU was about 83% capacity Labor Day weekend. Non-P5 would likely be closer to 60% +/- Labor Day weekend.

^ ^ ^ ^ This is likely the largest factor. Always makes me wonder WTF Wyoming is doing when they schedule home games that weekend - they should only schedule away games that weekend. For us die-hards, it is also a great weekend to travel to an out-of-town game / destination. I would love to go to a new destination every Labor Day!

I am going to go with Southgate Mall. Athleta is probably having their annual Labor Day sale that you love.

Guessing you are not going to watch the Pokes, but your first love the Montana team

Hey his QBs threw for 450 yards at Wyoming. In a season.

Had to go look at stats to find out passing leaders each year, because I didn't think you were far off.

2020: Levi Williams - 877 yds
2019: Sean Chambers - 915 yds
2018: Tyler Vanderwaal - 1,310 yds
2017: Josh Allen - 1,812 yds
2016: Josh Allen - 3,203 yds
2015: Cam Coffman - 1,951 yds

Those are laughably bad numbers. Think about this: Cameron Coffman has had the best passing numbers of any guy not named Josh Allen since 2015. What a shit show our passing game has been. Hell, we haven't had a receiver crack 600 yards in a season since Gentry and Maulhardt were here.

The next receiver to grab 25 passes in a season will have a statue outside the war.

Here in Colorado, it appears masks will be mandatory for all school kids. I would guess new lockdowns on large gatherings are imminent.

What is the mood like up in Wyo.? Will there be mask mandates or vaccine checks to enter the stadium? Will a full house be allowed? I'm planning on attending but I won't go if I have to wear a mask.

Gov Gordan just announced no mask mandate for Wyoming or fall school returns. We will see if that holds.

https://oilcity.news/community/health/2021/08/04/gordon-says-he-wont-issue-new-mask-mandate-in-wyoming-or-in-schools/

P.S. Folks - if you don't have symptoms, are not sick, whether or not you have been "exposed" (whatever that really means anymore) stop getting fucking tested. We don't need anymore sit-in-the-corner panic crybaby shit.
