I guess my checklist for team supervisor is different than some here.
when glenn was fired, and coach dc was brought in; there was one major focus for the new hiring. Burman wanted offense. He had been through what...? 12 years of defensive minded coaches. glenn, koeinning, dimel.
we had lost attendance numbers, and had been firmly seated in the dark ages of Wyoming football history.
DC has done everything this administration has asked of him. If you think that burman would rather have a defensive minded head coach, you are sorely mistaken.
Now all that said, the last time Wyoming had a complete coaching staff was the roach and tiller years. If you look at the staff and where they went after... many coaches came out of that roach tree, too include sumlin at a&m.
We are weaker on the defensive side of the football... but dc doesn't have as many personal connections to defensive coaching trees.
everybody wants a complete package when a new coach is hired, but that happens maybe 10% of the time.
There needs to be a balance when a new coach is hired that is better at one aspect than the other.... ala Christensen. We can't expect him to fire his defensive staff after every season because some fans have expectations of wanting a coaching tree powerhouse. it hurts the players, and damages programs with constant coaching turnover.
if I had my choice, we would hire a young defensive mind that has been groomed under jack del rio', or dick lebeau... as a coordinator... not as a new coach.
coach Christensen has done everything that our athletic director asked. Improve our offense, win games, get back to bowl games, and increase our attendance.
people need to focus on the time restraint of hiring new coordinators. at least dc has shown the ability to let people go. glenn wouldn't fire anybody, and he was lucky he had breske.
