Great write-up dino, thouroughly enjoyed the read, and nice to see some objectivity, although I'm definitely as down on the football team as anyone is.
At least Joe Glenn could put together a halfway decent defensemarcuswyo said:Joe Glenn 2.0. All those who thought Bohl would be good hire are wrong. DC was a better option. We should drop to d2 that is equal to Nd team we just lost to. Bohl should be fired tomorrow along with Burman, bring in Tiller as interim.

It's a piece of cartilage, and it is either torn or not. Coach Bohl's sports medicine knowledge needs a little refinement.
I see, now he's supposed to be totally versed in the absolute correct medical terminology? You're right, what a dunce Coach Bohl is.

Never said he's a dunce, but he ought to know basic sports medicine. What he said about his starting QB's knee is either inaccurate or bullshit.

Okay, all I know is that Coffman came into the post game presser limping badly with a huge-ass icebag wrapped around his knee.
He hurt his knee - it has something to do with the meniscus...I don't know anything about such things, but what I do know is that his knee was injured no matter how you, I, Coffman, or Bohl, says it.

Fair enough. If it's his meniscus he's either out 3-4 weeks in the event they snip out the torn part, or out 3-4 months if it's possible to repair it. It's like being pregnant - there's no "sorta."

All three of these guys play defense. The offense has ZERO freshmen starting, and only 4 sophomores. That means that 7 of the starters are upperclassmen. It's time to stop making excuses. The experienced players on both the offense, and the defense (especially the D line) shit the bed. They flat out sucked. No more bull shit about how these guys are "Cowboy tough." That was worse than the fucking ass kicking CSU gave us last year. If not for two penalties, the final score, oh the score, would have been 38-14. It's time to stop sugar coating shit. 12 MWC teams played this week. 10 teams won, and 2 lost. One team lost on the road (UNLV). The other team lost at home to a middle of the pack Big Sky team. It's time we all climbed off our sanctimonious high horse and called a spade a spade. I've been a fan for almost 60 years and in all that time I've never been embarrassed to be a Cowboy fan. Today, I was. :willybs:
FarmerPoke said:Just curious, what about partial tears? I've had 2 surgeries on my left knee and probably need one on my right. I had complete acl reconstruction the first time, and the 2nd one was a partial meniscus tear where they just went in and cleaned it up. With the second (meniscus) surgery, there's no doubt in my mind I could've played on it if necessary a day or two after the procedure. Also had a high school teammate have the same operation and didn't miss a game. Obviously neither of us are/were high level college athletes but just wondering if something like that could be the case with Coffman?

There really isn't such a thing as a partial tear of the meniscus, the question is where the tear is, how severe it is, and what type. The outer edges of the meniscus get more blood flow and heal better (and in some instances will heal themselves with rest). If they don't heal themselves, tears in this area respond best to surgical repair, which is preferable in young and healthy people but put you out of commission longer (3-4 months) to allow it to heal properly. Tears in the inner part of the meniscus don't heal well and usually just get snipped out or managed non-surgically. Regardless of where it is, if it's a surgery to snip out a chunk of torn meniscus, recovery time is going to be 3-4 weeks. I have had a couple of these and yes, you feel like you could play if absolutely necessary really soon but no doctor would clear you that soon because the risk of reinjury is too high until swelling is down and normal range of motion is pain free. Scooby Wright just had a partial meniscectomy after his injury Thursday, he's out 3-4 weeks.

Gotcha, very helpful, and thank you.

Have you ever thought about getting into sports journalism without the schtick?

OK. well no one is forcing you to be a fanAsmodeanreborn said:Nothing quite like having a fermented turd rubbed in your eyes. I would have been upset if this game was closer than two touchdowns. Losing? Well... urgh. I'm almost at the point where I'm questioning being a fan of this team. Even freaking Colorado Rockies at least show signs of life regardless of how bad they are.
Too bad I have absolutely zero interest in basketball.
