Granderson done for the year

crap!!!!! Sorry Carl. I know you really worked hard this summer. You're a beast and I have no doubt you will come back better than ever next season.

That's a huge loss. I hope we have reasonable depth at that position. Without a pass rush our pass defense is even more shady

Yikes. This could easily be the difference between winning or losing in a game or two.

I hope he has a full recovery and comes back stronger than ever next year.

Since he has never redshirted. The NCAA should grant him a redshirt year, but they wont... Just like Jeff Boyle should have gotten one and he missed the good part of 2 years with injuries.

He does not qualify for a medical redshirt as he's played more than 30% of the year. However, his regular redshirt is still available if he needs next year to keep recovering.

I wasn't sure if it was 30% of the games, but I knew it was a fairly low percentage.

This is a major bummer. I hope he can recover to 100% and come back even more dominant next year.

You're assuming we won't play in the conference championship game, CFP semifinals, and then the National Championship :)

That brings up a good question... does that 30% rule apply to only regular season games? Or do conference championships and bowl games also count? If so, it seems like it gives an unfair advantage to injured players on better teams...

He means that the 30% number out of 12 games is one thing, but a team that plays in their normal 12, then a conference championship, then a semifinal and championship game is now playing in 15 games, meaning 30% would essentially give him another game and still be eligible. I think fromolwyoming is right, I believe the 30% only applies to regular season games.

Didn't Wick get a medical red shirt after the 30% time grease?

I think he only played sparingly to begin with, and the result of the redshirt was because of total accumulation of playing time was less than 30%.

Granderson, has been playing more than 30%.
