Future ooc Schedules

Looks like Burman went pretty consistent with 2 near auto-losses this year through 2025. Seems like he alternated those the past few years (1 challenging game and 3 competitive to likely wins). Likely going to need to be .500 or better in conference to be bowl eligible.

I used to be all in for scheduling up and trying to make noise. Probably unrealistic expectations. The better option going forward might be scheduling down as much as possible and shooting for a consistent 7 win season (good chance at 4-0 OOC and only need 3 conference wins).

I see no reason we can’t give Texas tech a run for their money in 23’ or Arizona st./byu in 24’ or @colorado 25’. I mean we’ll probably lose them but I don’t see forgone conclusions in them. The Texas and Utah games might be really ugly . Utah looks good. They look way better than the buffaloes. Ideally we’re a mw powerhouse by then 🤣. Of course, nil and transfers might make g5 and p5 gap worse.

I don't know man. Craig Bohl in nearly a decade has 1 win against P5 and mostly non-competitive games in the 9 losses. Previous to him? I think you have to go all the way back to 2008 with Tennessee and UCLA before that. 3 wins in ballpark of 20 years. The nil and transfer thing will only exacerbate the problem.

It probably is time to stop scheduling P5 or no more than 1 on the schedule unless we need the body bag money. Other than money, the P5 games do nothing for us.

Naturally, if we become the MW power, I reserve the right to change my position

Since I've been fully interested and invested in the program we have rarely beat a P5 team, but I also see we have more victories over said schools than alot of programs have.

2004- Ole Miss
2004- UCLA
2005- Ole Miss
2008- Tennessee
2019- Missouri

Doesn't seem like much, but there are teams that haven't won a game against the P5 in that span. It's never as bad as it appears, but it will also never ever be better than it appears. What ya see is typically as good as it gets.

The Pokes also beat Virginia out of the ACC in 2007. All but one of those wins were by Joe Glenn who got fired after 4 seasons, and arguably had the identical winning percentage that Bohl has. Except Joe was way cheaper and didn't have near the facilities or support. Bohl isn't a very good FBS coach, and thanks to Burman, we are stuck with him and his inflated salary for a few more years. Like you said, this is probably as good as it gets.

It was the correct move to fire Glenn when it happened...That program was bad and getting worse. From a football perspective...Bohl should be gone as well. Glenn did not get railroaded...he deserved to get fired. Bohl deserves it as well but the administration has financially tied themselves to him. It's a bit of a tough choice...Overpay or underpay? If you underpay you get to drop a bad coach as soon as it is plain they are bad but you also generally don't get good coaches....or if you do you only get them for a brief period. If you overpay you get some program stability at best...but if you overpay the wrong guy you get stuck.

Crud I can't believe I forgot about that one, considering I was there! Watched us whip Howie's boy left and right. Quite honestly I am tired of who is or was the better coach. TBH they both are terrible examples of coaches at the FBS level. Dana Dimel was the last to have a respectable winning record here, albeit riding on Tillers coat tails, but I digress. There will never be another .500+ coach at Wyoming again. I'm as big a sunshine pumper there is and I see it. We may get lucky once but it will be short lived as that coach will last 2 maybe 3 years tops.

I am not happy with where we are or what we are, but I will cheer my beloved home state team on for as long as I'm breathing. I just won't expect anything, then I have no expectations to not be met. If anyone is going to the San Jose game, message me, see you there.
