For all you history / numbers guys...quick question:

Yeah, Dimel did alright with Tiller's recruits (not as good as Tiller did though), but then he bolted for Houston never to be heard from again and left nothing in the tank for Koenning.

Dimel managed to find ways to lose big games late to Colorado and others. Not a big fan, but he did okay. It would have been interesting to see if he could have maintained anything at Wyo. Where is he now? I haven't heard of him since he left.

I think he's the TE coach for the Univerisity of Arizona. Yeah his recruits weren't the best but I thought he did all right. Didn't he help to open up the pipeline into Texas a bit? I thought he recruited Chukwurah and Martin...among others maybe Scotty Vines? He couldn't seem to win the big game at the end of the season to assure the Pokes of going bowling. If I remember correctly they got smoked pretty good by Tulsa in his last season.

He is the tight ends coach at Arizona, has been with the school since the mid 2000's.

Interesting, thanks. Sounds like he is doing ok then. What I remember most from the Dimel days are the badass D linemen we had. Kind of a blur those years in Laramie, had a daughter on the way, and trying to finish my degree.

Chukwarah, Martin, Vines......wow thanks for reminding me. Those were great recruits, my memory of those years must have suffered from the constant work, study, work, study routine I was in. Good info, thanks.

Not sure if those guys were his recruits for sure, more of a question. I do think he recruited Malcom Floyd though. Was Stoner his recruit or was he in Tillers last class?

Dimel only recruited Chukwarah. Martin was a Glenn recruit(2003), and Vines was a McClain recruit that switched from basketball to football his JR year. Stoner was a Tiller recruit that he tried to take to Purdue with him, and would of had to compete with Brees for the starter at QB. Dimel did bring in some good talent while he was here ...Boyle,Peprah,Rich, Barnes, but he mainly won his games with Tiller recuits. Tiller's last class he brought in was really good.

Thanks zappin, it's been a while. Couldn't remember exactly who all the players were. Now that you mention it I remember the Stoner situation and the Vines situation as well.

Dimel recruited decent his first year. After that he was all about recruiting Jr College transfers. Which is what ultimately screwed us for the next 3 years with Koenning. Koenning wasn't even a bad coach. He just had nothing work with. Dimel is to blame for our 5-29 debacle. 2000 was a rebuilding year to begin with. Koenning was Phase 1. He held it together, brought in some better recruiting classes and tried to win with what he had.
Glenn was Phase 2. He started to win with Koenning's recruits and even won a bowl with them. Then we saw up and down years with him as a coach. Recruiting got a little better, but not great.
Christensen is Phase 3. I think this is the ultimate turnaround phase as well. He came in recruited, brought in his own players and began winning with his own players. Do i see us having a down year here and there? Possibly. But more, much more victories to come. he has brought commitment and dedication to restoring this program. He has also brought in a no non sense attitude to the football players. i think we are at the brink of turnaround now. Get ready...It will start getting fun again.
