FG kicking is getting better

It was a beauty of a kick. Sometimes a long field can be easier for a kicker and it will hopefully give him a confidence boost.

Kick coverage was poor, I actually think his kickoffs are getting better. One was intentionally kicked high and short, but he's getting it to the endzone when he tries. Now he just needs to get it through the endzone. In his interview, he says that he does the same workout in the gym as the rest of the team. Shouldn't he be doing something else to help him add distance? Not sure if it's like baseball where if you work out too much, you can mess up your mechanics.

If he is doing the same workout as the rest of the team that is BAD. A kickers workout needs to be quick calisthenic movements. Such as shuffles, sprints, weight sled, elastic bands, kicking in a pool. Pure weight lifting will actually make a kicking motion slower. It's all about building leg speed with quick movements.

Can they just make me the kicking coach already?

Have you volunteered?

The one kickoff that was really good this past week was about 6 or 7 yards deep in the end zone TCU ran it back for their longest return (48 yards). I don't think the Cowboys knew what to do having a kick go so deep.

Overall Sullivan is getting better and he was voted Special Teams Poke this week, a step in the right direction. :thumb:

He got pretty good depth on all his kickoffs, the only puzzling one was why they short kicked the kickoff after we got the penalty on the touchdown.

The TCU kick returners were getting 45 yards every time, so maybe DC told him to kick short and get the ball into someone else's hands. It still wound up at the 45 though.

watch the gags interview with Sullivan, he actually looks puzzled when gags asks him about working out and then just kind of shoots out "I do what the rest of the team does".
