Ex-Penn State coach accused to sex crimes

All I can say is any punishment short of the death penalty for the PSU football progam is too light. I was talking to a friend of mine at work today and we came to the conclusion that if they wanted to keep their football program they could but they'd basically be relegated to NAIA status or less. ZERO scholarships for the next 10 years then they can offer a few until maybe in 20-30 years or so they could be back to full strength. What a travesty, unfortunately they'll get a slap on the wrist and JoePa will ride off into the sunset like nothing ever happened. Absolutely disgusting!

It's not an NCAA infraction, it's a lawsuit issue (well, dozens actually) which is a WHOLE new ball game.

But this is already hurting their recruiting, status, and appearance and it hasn't even been judged yet.

I know it's a criminal act and not an NCAA infraction, but it is the football program that is at the heart of the crime. I know most likely nothing will happen with the football program, but it'd be nice for once to see someone or something get hammered for something like this happening.

I never thought I'd ever see Joe Pa fired. This breaks my heart. I have looked up to the man forever.

And thus, the man that made Penn State football the program that it is, is now fired at 84 years old and after 40+ years as their HC.

my facebook has been blowing up about this lol.. damn all my friends that go to psu or just like psu. like %80 of em haha

Ditto. Ive admired Joe Pa since I was very young. Call the cops man, you knew better. Damn.

With all the terrible things going on with College football as of late, this is the most heartbreaking story I have dealt with in my lifetime.

Most importantly we all feel for the victims in this. I also hate it for JoePa. He is a man of integrity and I hate to see him go out this way. I truly feel had he known what was going on he would have dealt with it, I'm just not sure he knew the magnitude of the situation. As a head football coach in D1 you have so many things going to deal with on a daily basis.

Who would have thought this past saturday was the last time he would ever be on the sidelines. This will kill him inside, I bet he doesn't make it to the new year.

The thing is, he was the first person told about the 2002 incident. Yes, he did what he was "legally" obligated to do, and let his boss know (they guys who really hid things). But he was guilty of not doing what was morally right, in following through and making sure something like that didn't get swept under the rug like it did. That, in my opinion, is why he deserved what happened. I know for a fact that I would lose my job if something like that happened at my job, and I failed to follow it through and let higher-ups ignore it! If I am a "nobody" held to that standard, so should the figure head of a major university like Penn State.

Yep, I too can say that I would certainly lose my job if a similar situation happened to me and I didn't follow up on it after seeing it swept under the rug.

From looking at Paterno now, it just looks like he deliberately let it slide because he knew a scandal of that magnitude would seriously hurt his recruiting efforts, and thus his win record as a coach.
