Embarrassed

No I am not talking about the team I am talking about all of you on this board. I am embarrassed by our fans after one game all of you think the season is over. Suck it up we played bad for one game, the season is not over, and I guarantee we win at least 8 games this year. The fact that all of you are giving up after one game is pathetic.

I fully agree with this. It's ONE game! It is not the end of the world. We got outplayed, it happens. We are still going bowling this year. We aren't losing to New Mexico, Hawaii, CSU or San Jose state. People just need to calm down.

Saying this season is over is a drastic exaggeration. But with that said, fans have the right to feel bummed and frustrated. Last nights game...as many have stated, was a very "Wyoming thing to do". This team will play in a bowl game....but they won't be lights out going forward. They have the capabilities of pulling off upsets AND being upset.

Lesson learned. No more over-looking anyone.

I don't think fans on this board are giving up, but I do think they are scared. We beat Texas State two years ago by 35 points. We felt we were light years better than we were two years ago. We got beat by that team by 21. IF we are a better team now with 2 years under Brett Smith's belt, how in the hell is Texas State THAT much better than us with a QB who has never played a down of college football in his life.

That's scary. Real scary.

It all comes down to coaching or lack of coaching. They have gotten head over heals into this Brett Smith for Heisman quest, that they have lacked the basic thought of what happens if and when a team will sucessfully game plan to shut down brett. It was bound to happen, even N.Colorado had a plan for brett, but we got creative and pulled it out. Last night another slow start this time against a well coached team. There has to be a plan B in our arsenal. If that means putting Jason Thompson in well so be it. Putting the full pressure of carrying the team on Bretts shoulders is a tall order. This is far from the end of the season so I believe we learn from this and the coaching staff learns to implement a plan B in case Brett struggles. We do have a lot weapons that are not getting utilized. Hopefully we get away being enamored by our offenses stats and concentrate on our faults. It all starts at the top.

You talk of this "plan B". Who or what in your opinion is plan b? What does Thompson offer that Smith doesn't already do? This team lives and dies by Smiths accuracy and the WRs route running. We are an spread pass heavy team. If those aren't in sync then we struggle. The only change you can make to our arsenal would be the running game. That's what tex st stopped. Besides, they did not stop Smith. He still threw for 292 yards. What? He didn't throw four td passes? That in itself is also a tall order and relies on the WRs not just Smith.

I watched my first Wyoming game in 1961, and the Pokes beat North Carolina State 15-14. I've been a fan ever since. I've seen a lot of Wyoming football over the years. While I'm definitely not giving up on this team, I do think there is plenty to worry about. If some of the pressure is not taken off Smith's shoulders, then he will continue to try and do too much. And when people try to do too much, sometimes bad things happen (concussions, sprains, etc.) This isn't a one man team. It is time for every single player on this team to step up and be young men. They need to quit relying on Brett Smith to be superman, and shoulder their share of the load.

This can be a good team, and they can definitely go bowling. But I saw a team give less than 100% last night and that bothers the hell out of me. Am I off the Wyoming bandwagon? Of course not. Do I think things will get fixed? I sure hope so. If they don't, it's going to be another long season.

I, for one, don't think the season is over, however....

However, what we saw on the field this past Saturday we also saw against AFA a week ago and against UNC the week before that- a defense that can't stop the run and coaches who don't make adjustments. This is the storyline of CDC's tenure thus far. Good programs don't lose to d-league teams. Simple as that.

"This is what concerns us, Dude."

While I don't think the season is over, at this point I'm not really planning on attending the inaugural MWC Championship Game either...

I'm on your side, but now the Pokes need to step un and prove this was just a bad game. They get to sit and wait with this sick feeling for two weeks. Let's see how they respond.

I have a feeling they will respond well. Too bad the next game isn't against CSewe to be honest, NM is in for a throttling.

That said, the Texas State game was an embarrassing moment for the team and coaching staff, more than us douchey message board posters. UW football completely shit themselves in Texas. I wasn't expecting that.

This board looks like the Nebraska board after a close win or a loss.

Unfortunately that seems to be the norm with most passionate fans of any team. Quick, knee jerk reactions.

I gotta say, I definitely hate it too.

Guy, we lost to Texas State. Not AFA, not Nebraska, not Boise State, not Alabama, not Louisville, not CSU. We lost to TEXAS STATE. This is what indicates our problems still run deep and begin with coaching and leadership.

And SDSU lost to E. Illinois.
And CSU lost to Colorado.
And UNM lost to UTSA.
And USU lost to Utah.

What's your point. You act as though we are supposed to go from a mid to low level team to WORLD BEATERS! We all wanted UW to win, but, we didn't. So get off your high horse and get over it and move on.

I may be speaking out of turn, but I don't give a shit about any other teams / schools and what they do or did. I only care about WYO, and my dollars only go to WYO. Lots of dollars too.

My bar is obviously set too high. I should be satisfied with 7 or 8 win seasons. And I shouldn't cheer too loud in the stands either. And I should only say positive things on these message boards. And...and...and...

Historically, defense has been the mainstay for the Cowboys. We have had some true offensive powerhouses under Roach, Tiller and some others but the D has always been formidable. Now we put 11 bodies out there and hope to slow them down.....it has not been a priority under DC. I also am not a fan of his inability to make adjustments on game day.....how many times have we been in games at the half in recent years, only to be blown out in the second half....very frustrating! I too have been a Cowboy faithful for many years and have sat through miserable weather at the War many times cheering on the Pokes, travel when I can but have been infuriated by the Defenses fielded and the lack of game day coaching under CDC! I still have high hopes for this years edition of Cowboy football but will remain a CDC skeptic as long as we are embarrassed by anyone.....Texas State or Boise State! Understand that we are not going to win them all but there is no reason for us to not be competitive. At least Joe Glenn was someone you could like!

We had some embarrassing losses when Joe was at the helm as well. I think this thing is headed in the right direction. It was an off night, perpetuated by a 3 1/2 hour delay. We'll find out in a couple weeks if this was just a bad game.

I'm a fan of DC as was I a fan of Joe. No reason for me not to like a guy who stands up for his team.

Go Pokes!!

Nebraska almost lost to Wyoming(No offense...just stating that to most Nebraska fans, Wyoming is the same to Nebraska as Texas State is to Wyoming...)

Every teams has fans who think the sky is falling after 1 loss or a close win or whatever. It happens, and its absolutely absurd. 1 game doesn't dictate the season, it doesn't predict the future, and it surely doesn't mean the season is over.

Step back from the ledge, relax and be optimistic about the rest of the season. It's not the end of the world.

The last thing....Remember, these are college kids playing as student athletes. Keep it in perspective.

(Also, sorry if Im out of line, I know I'm an outsider...)

You may not give a shit about these other teams, but your attitude every year shows unless there is success at WYO you apparently don't give a shit for UW either. I've complained on here. But some of you guys are CONSTANT complainers. It's all you do, it's all your known for. And that is sad.

I am biting my tongue on this one so I don't fly off the handle with my response - but do me a solid...

Don't lump me in with your - "you guys are CONSTANT complainers. It's all you do, it's all your known for. And that is sad."

That is complete and total bullshit. Hopefully I made that civil, and as clear as possible to you.
