back to eat crow, man this was a huge road win at a place they never seemed to be able to get one! Good balanced scoring and a great game by us overall. On to Cal, hopefully everyone can make the trek as a somewhat full AA would be a nice help to these hard working kids!! So happy over that one last night!!! Keep it up Pokes

Planning to travel 7 hrs to be there +1! Pretty dang excited, I don't get to make it to many games, I try to get to at least 1 game a year if it works out. At this point I'm not really expecting us to win, but sure would huge if we do!! The aztecs beat Cal by 14 on a neutral floor when Cal was ranked 14th in the country. Gonna be a very tough game, but will be a nice measuring stick and great experience for our young team!

i think it's gonna be well worth the trip, safe travels, Go POKES

Without that turnover debacle we win this going away by 30 the turnovers killed momentum anytime we had any and it gave them a shitload of points they otherwise wouldn't have.

I wish there would have been video for this game sounded like it would have been really enjoyable to see the defense step up.

It was. Very few open looks from outside, and while not to the level of defense of last year, that's only because of lack of experience.

Newer to the site and sure this has been covered but curious why Barnes didn't redshirt last year?
I would think it was the lack of depth they had up front. Kind of same reason noughton isn't this year. Last year sure, you had nance and DC. But after that was a r-fr in Herndon and nothing else. So he was 4th big and even though he didn't play much he was needed. This year w noughton it's the same- a year or 2 from now we will all be saying why didn't they redshirt him- well you have Herndon and Barnes and they like dalton as a top 3 big. But what do they do after that? Noughton the insurance policy.

I like Barnes a lot and think he has a top 4-5 on this team ceiling, too bad he wasn't a r-fr right now.

The guy I think really missed out on a redshirt year is Gorski. He wasn't available much of the season or really needed.

I know nobody hardly does it but next year it would be maybe smart to redshirt Lieberman (if Marshall comes around this year, plays, and sticks with the team)

I'm pretty sure it was his decision. I remember reading or hearing in a video about Shyatt's policy on redshirting. Basically he said the staff talks to the players and their families when they think a player should redshirt, but they get to decide if they actually want to redshirt or not. Every player Shy has wanted to redshirt but doesn't seems to really have needed that redshirt year to benefit from it. The staff knows if the kids aren't quite up to speed but they won't stop them if they want to go for it for whatever reason. I remember for certain they wanted to JB to redshirt and someone else too that didn't if I recall right.

When it comes to redshirting players the staff seem spot on. I'm sure this year Conway just wouldn't have caught the minutes he wishes he would so that's why he did it. Ditto for Moemeka. Naughton must have beat out Moemeka for that final big man spot. I'm sure he'll see the court again and I'm hoping he's gonna improve like these other guys in season.
