Texas State- they are improved-granted they have beaten a couple creampuffs-not great-but not Idaho or Northern Colorado either. We need to play all 4 quarters
USAFA-suspect Defense-but not Idaho or Northern Colorado either. We need to play all 4 quarters-you can bet Howdy Doody will get the Birdmen all ruffled up for this one-after last years buffoonery DC needs to deliver a smackdown

Better not hit the snooze button...
Hawaii- I know, I know-but even getting rickrolled by the PAC-10 they have flashed signs of life

GO AHEAD AND SLEEP ON
New Mexico,CSU, San Jose State-these guys are terrible

WIDE AWAKE
FreNO-the real deal
San Jose-havent won yet, but no pushover

SLEEPLESS IN LARAMIE

Umm how the hell is Fresno the real deal????

They had to throw it 73 times in their first game! They do not have a run game. And their defense is AWFUL.
Put 2 in the box, and drop 9 into coverage and you will stop Carr.
That is literally the most 1 dimensional team there is in the MWC, even more 1 dimensional than Air Force.

Fresno is lucky that the game against CU got postponed because they would have been exposed by a truly terrible team.

And SJSU is awful but San Jose (San Diego maybe?) is in the wide awake?
The team that lost by 21 points to an FCS team? 3 touch downs? 40-19? Then got destroyed by Ohio States BACK-UP qb?
And next week is about to get blown up by the Beavers next week? San Diego is a total joke.
SJSU is legit. They lost to #5 Stanford..

Here's my MWC breakdown after 3 weeks:

West:
Fresno-Can only pass, no run game, plus their D sucks. Will beat weak teams, and lose to good teams (wyoming 2011)
SJSU- Going to be decent but losing their head coach to CU is going to hurt them. Fales hasn't been that good so far.
Nevada- Rough schedule and it's going to beat them up, they will be lucky to get 6 wins.
UNLV- May reach 6 wins this season. Not very good though, need to beat up on the other weaker teams to get 6.
Hawaii- Both losses to Pac12 teams, but haven't looked as bad as people thought, still, not a very good team at all.
SDSU- Total joke this season. Lost by 21 at home to an FCS school, got shredded by Ohio States back up.

Mtn:
Boise St.- Not the Boise State of Kellen Moore, but still overwhelming for most MWC teams, but not the clear front runner in the MWC.
Utah St.- Pretty damn good, but couldn't beat Utah, could be conditioning issue with Keaton, or maybe losing Anderson will hurt.
Wyoming- Pretty damn good. Smith is amazing, Wick is a beast, and the D is here to play this year. 3 team race between Wyo, USU, and Boise.
CSU- On their way to another 4 win season. Good luck at Bama LOL
New Mexico- Still a ways to go for their program, maybe get to 6 wins. MAYBE. But probably around 4 wins.
AFA- Cheap, dirty, and their coach is a big whiner. Their defense sucks. Bad.

Rankings:
1. USU
T2. Boise St.
T2. Wyoming
4. SJSU
5. Fresno St.
6. Nevada
7. AFA
T8. UNLV
T8. New Mexico
T10. CSU
T10. SDSU
12. Hawaii

Who ever wins the Mtn hosts the MWC Title Game, and wins the MWC.

Unfortunately for Wyo, we have to go on the road to Boise and USU the other 2 Mtn contenders.
And USU, who I think is the best team in the MWC has Wyo and Boise at home.
Boise gets Wyo at home and goes to USU.

Your analysis of Utah State is laughable. They should have beaten Utah, but a strange call near the end hampered that. There is zero issues with Keeton, guy is leading the MOuntain West in total yardage, and is probably among the nation's leaders in that category. That team is streamrolling everything right now. I think they'll beat USC.

Laughable? I said they couldn't beat Utah, and they didn't.
Keaton came out with cramp issues and that might have been why they lost. USU didn't look good against Utah.

I would have USU as the clear front runner for the entire Mountain West, with Boise, Fresno and Wyoming rounding out the top four.

The USC defense has been scary good this season. Very intriguing to see how Keeton does against them. Trojan offense is awful though. USU is a little less one-dimensional than Fresno, but still far from balanced. They go as far as Keeton goes.

How I see the MWC right now:

1. USU- their offense is steamrolling people the way I think ours is capable of, but they are actually getting it done. Best team in the MWC IMO.I think they beat USC and BYU over the next 3 weeks to salvage a little honor for a MWC that has had by far it's worst start to the season since its formation.

2. BSU- Washngton was ugly, but they are getting it together and frankly Petersen has earned the benefit of the doubt.

3. FSU- Great offense and they will destroy CU whenever that game is actually played. Team to beat in the West division. Great opportunity for the Pokes to get them in Laramie in Nov.

4. WYO- Defense and running game are improved. If Smith's ankle injury is serious than drop the Pokes about 5 spots.

5. SJSU- should be 4 when you consider what they did last year, but...well, this is a Poke board, so...

6-11- not sure yet. I think the 5 teams above play in a bowl, everyone else stays home.

12. SDSU - Eastern Illinois' bitch.

I just don't see why people are buying Fresno.
They have absolutely no run game. They gave up 51 points to Rutgers at home.
Norfolk State only gave up 38 to Rutgers @ Rutgers.
And Eastern Michigan only gave up 28 to Rutgers @ Rutgers.

They also gave up 25 points to Cal Poly who only scored 17 in Foco.
Yeah I know it was garbage time but Cal Poly had their back ups in also.

Wick should be able to run for 150 on Fresno. And Smith should be able to throw for 350.

Fresno is weak. Yeah they probably would have beat CU, even though I made the bold prediction of CU beating Fresno, but CU would have still exposed how bad their D really is.
Did I mention Carr had to throw it 73 times to beat Rutgers?

Just like WYO was supposed to move the ball like that verse UNC, right?

437 yards with a QB with a bum ankle.
Did you not know Smith was injured? Because...it was pretty evident...

FSU doesn't need a run game when you have a QB who will chuck it 74 times for nearly 500 yards.

BS.
In football you need a run game to get a pass game going, not the other way around.

Plus 500 yards on 74 freaking attempts is not all that great. That's barely 6 YPC....which is average. Tons of reps inflates stats. Smith has come close to 500 with half that total before.

Exactly.

If it was ALL about the QB, Wyo would have beaten Toledo, AFA, Nevada, and Cal Poly last season.

Hell if all you needed was a good QB to throw and never run, Peyton Manning would be throwing 70 times a game every game.
That first game showed how 1 dimensional they are, and their second game (Cal Poly) should have been a game where they showed they weren't 1 dimensional yet they couldn't do anything on the ground either.

What?? We absolutely lost to Cal Poly because we didn't put in a half way competent QB. No question we would have beat Cal Poly if Thompson played rather than Kirkegaard.

Wick wasn't hurt and I know you we're saying he should get 150 against UNC. Smith being injured was my point. Circumstances take predictions out of the scenario. Should we run all over the AF D? Or the Fresno D? Probably, but how will Brett's ankle be on Saturday? Because its the read option that opens up the door for Wick. We saw those gaps close when Brett couldn't run.

I was at the USU game saturday. Albeit it was against Weber State, but they called off the team at half. They could have scored 100 points with ease. It was 70-0 after 3 and on two occasions, Utah State did QB dives on 4th down on the ten just so they wouldnt score more points. Say what you want about Weber being complete shi, but they are in the same caliber vs Northern Colorado and we struggled at times. If it wasn't for our D, we only win by two tds.

Conditioning issue with Keeton? It was the first game of the year. That is expected by many players. He is still one of the TOP offensive producers in the nation. The guy is legit and he will SHRED most D in the MWC this year.

They beat Utah if at home (or later in the year).
They steamrolled Air Force and steamrolled Weber.

I agree, this week will be a guage for both of us. If we lose to Air Force, that isnt good. If USU beats USC, no question the best team in the conf.

I agree to an extent. We have no business losing to AFA. So yeah, it wouldn't be good if we did. And if USU beat USC, I'm still not sure they are the unquestioned best team in the MWC. Washington State beat USC didn't they?

All the Pokes need to do is win.
