Desmar Jackson

Watching SIU play Utah st and as good as Desmar is on offence nothing has changed on defence, pretty much none existent. Boy he can score though.

Under Shyatt he would be an amazing player no doubt about it!

The few times he ever played defense he was actually a pretty aggressive and good defender. I remember him forcing some turnovers and and causing bad shots.
Him playing in a system where he had to play D, he would be a great player.
With him, would Luke even be starting? What if we had M'Baye and Desmar?

PG- Gilmore/Adams/Grabau
SG- Des/Luke
SF- M'baye
PF- Leonard
C- Nance

Hell... we would have ZERO depth issues....
OH WELL we are friggin 12-0 without them...we literally could not ask for a better team to this point

It's a good thing he is gone. He was a cancer in the locker room.

Blame that on the coach and not the player, He would easily be a different player under Shyatt and that is all this thread is about.

But he did not want to play under Shyatt and left of his own volition after he who shall not be named left/was fired.

That's exactly why it's a hypothetical discussion and I believe he would be a very strong player under Shyatt.

If my memory serves me right his own teammates didn't like him so that didn't have much to do with the coach. I think it was just his personality.

A key question is always whether the player would accept the coaching from a coach. You can lead a horse to water...

This is very true but not in this hypothetical question, So I'll rephrase it, Someone as talented offensively as Desmar Jackson would be a great player if they were able to learn defense under Larry Shyatt.

Is that better?

I always said Jackson was more about himself than he was about the team and I still stand by that statement, The Pokes are a better team since he left!!!

I get what you're getting at and won't give the typical "we don't need him response".

IF we had Desmar still, and he 100% bought into Coach Shyatts system. He would be at the level Jamaal Franklin is I think. He could score in bunches and would be starting. Probably over Luke.
Him and Leonard would be the face of the program, and both would be 1st team MWC players.

Now we are on the same page, without the attitude or who he is under Shyatt he would be pretty amazing player.

I'd rather have M'Baye too but jesus... no one can answer a hypothetical....lol come on.

Since everyone is still being all serious I got 2 things for you all...
1-Merry Christmas
2-I was/am right about the b-ball predictions to this point and no one thought I would be even close :)

Hypotheticals are not allowed in here!!! Merry Christmas back at ya, I picked a win loss record so I'm glad I'm wrong as of yet.

That is pretty funny beave! Your football prediction was a bit off. You know the saying, something about sunshine and a dogs ass? Lol

I can't believe people can even argue about Desmar Jackson.

He would not be an amazing player if he coached under Shyatt

He has zero intention to play defense.

Anyone who doesn't play defense shouldn't be on the court.
