DC... WILL be fired...next year

Brett, Wick, Dom, Gentry, Claiborne pretty good offensive core for the next coach, especially if the I-line can coached up a bit and has more time to train and develop.

Remember that DJ May will be playing next season as well.
If he progressed the way Wick did, then the Pokes will have a really good core of runners between Smith, Wick, and May.

I left him out just because you never know with injuries, but I totally agree. We need a big wideout. Hopefully Nico Brown and Gentry can learn to use their size to break through press coverages.

Yep. Either Sewell or Brown have to step up.

Man, I really want a pro style offense now.

Smith would be DEADLY on roll outs, whether he runs it or launches it down field. And we all know he has quick enough feet to survive in the pocket (if there is one).
And between Wick and May (IF he progresses like Wick did) running the ball, they would be able to eat up a lot of clock (here comes the time of possession bs... lol).
And plus, having 1 less WR and having a big TE would be AWESOME.
Extra blocking would be nice. Plus, with our predictable offense now, it's not like we are using all 5 WRs to their full potential.

Plus, won't Krill be back? He might not me much of a receiving TE but using him as an extra blocker would be nice

offensive firepower will be fine but at Wyo the alphabet goes like this A, B, C, E, F.....

I would be fine with keeping the spread offense at Wyoming. The spread is an equalizer, Joe Tiller spoke about this during the Fresno game. The thought of running the pro style gives me nightmares about Joe Glenn's last few years, even though that might be a talent issue ( I'm sure it was)?

Yeah the issue is obviously the defense, but to me if we ran a pro style, slow down some, keeping our defense off the field more can't hurt

The main problem then is the same as it is now, our o-line is not good. No matter what type of offense you run, you NEED the offensive line to protect the QB and open up holes for the ball carrier, period. But with a predicatable offensive strategy with little to no chance of it being adjusted in game or during the half time, that makes an already struggling o-line look even worse.

Pro, spread, option, pistol, etc. It doesn't matter what style we run if the o-line can't do its job. Part of it is on recruiting, but part of it is also on the coaches. And our o-line has been sub-par going back to Joe Glenn.

Pro style does have its advantages, but it also requires a very specific type of player, especially along the o-line. Big, heavy, powerful, and can comewhat provide pass protection, but mainly pushing defenders out of the way.

The spread though, allows for smaller o-linemen as it isn't about running it down the other team's throat every down. Instead, its more about speed and techinque than power and strength. And it doesn't require huge possession recievers either (yeah, you get the occasional speedster that has good size, but they don't happen too often), but rather focuses on speed and good hands then size and pushing through big defenders. Thats why so many schools use the spread as it gives them more leeway with the size of recruits.

Personally? I don't care what offense we run. Or defense, for that matter. But neither will work if we don't have the guys up front or the staff that can coach them up.

Why cant we use similar blocking techniques like AF does on certain runs? They have some small ass linemen but always seem to take out blockers and create space for their backs. I hate the cut block techniques on players knees, but it does get the defensive players on their heels.
