Dave Christensen Show 10.22.13

Kansas I'd love to see a comparison between Tiller and Christensen in regards to wins against winning teams.

It's gonna be much closer than people realize I have a hunch.

Joe Tiller had six wins against winning teams at the end of year five. He also had three seasons were he outscored opponents (in his 6 yrs), compared to Joe Glenn's 3 wins against winning teams (6yrs) and 1 season of out scoring opponents. DC is at 4 wins against winning opponents and no seasons with more points than opponents.

Tiller only beat two teams with 8 or greater wins (6 yrs), Glenn beat 3 teams with 8 or more wins(6 yrs), and DC has beat 3 teams with 8 or more wins (under 5 yrs).

Joe Tiller's 6th year is what has set him aside from the pack, and the 93 co-championship.

note: I didn't count beating 6-6 teams as a winning season, and I may have missed something( my eyes hurt today).

I have to be honest here. I find this hilarious that if I had actually posted these facts you would probably be getting all over me. Someone else does it and it's ,"nice work"? I really don't know what to think of this.

Please tell me that I'm not the only one who is noticing this?

By the way that was good work, you beat me to it.

Expanding evidence of a program whose bar is set low.

You still seem a little riled Kansas. Just go on an simmer down a bit-I surely don't mean you any offense by givin a pat on the back to o'l marcus.

If you can pack your posts as full of stats as that marcus boy just did, I'd probly compliment you as well. Specially now that theres some jawin out there that we might just be related

Still, all statistics aside. I am still a big fan of old Joe Tiller, and I still think the quality of competition he and Joe Glenn had to play (TCU, Utah, BYU) was better than it is now.

But then, thats why God keeps makin young folks. So the past can be forgotten, and new tales can be told.

Yup, evidence that the "glory days" weren't really all THAT glorious when you look deeper into it.

I look back at 1987 (21 points from being undefeated, and a blocked field goal against Iowa from being 13 & 0) and 1988 (with the exception of a mess at Houston and a buzzsaw Barry Sanders)...those really were the last years Wyoming had any kind of momentum on the gridiron.

although he's gotten better, his robotic style still drives me nuts (DC), but i guess after Joe Glenn it's a hard act to follow, with his infectious attitude etc...

Joe did build something he never had a chance to follow through with. Unfortunately he left for Purdue and Dimel came in and had three decent (could have been good if he could have won the final game of the season each year) years with Tiller's guys before the Vic era. I think Tiller had the chance to really build a strong program, but many people never forgave him for taking a safety.

Go Pokes!!

however...many times Glenn appeared to be fake......DC can wear a clown outfit for all care as long as the team wins and comes to play. :silly:

I think coach takes this more seriously than we give him credit for.

He hears footsteps from the mob and he wants to keep his $1.25M...

You know, here is the cool part about this loss to CSU (i'm mad as hell we lost, but oh well, I should probably find other things to be mad about - maybe cancer - but anyways), he has never lost to CSU during his time at Wyoming.

I doubt he has ever felt his butt getting warm from fans, but this single loss will probably (or really should) make him wake up and go win some games.

BTW, Joe Tiller had a 3-3 record against CSU.

That's back when CSU was actually good. You're not comparing apples to apples.

Probably because he doesn't want to marry DC like you do.

Wick says it all about recruiting:

(paraphrasing) I had no other choice. The other two schools to offer were Northern Colorado and Sac State, I had to go to Wyoming if I wanted to play the big schools.

Awesome.

Just goes to show what I have been saying. We get FCS players, so we should drop down to FCS and compete.

I'm telling you, after you got past the disappointment of not having these 4-8 FBS teams you would begin to enjoy quality FCS teams. Of course, this assumes we could beat Cal-Poly, which we can't even do as an FBS team.

Okay, say goodbye to 90% of all donations, support, and overall enthusiasim for the University if it went in such a route.

The problem is, we wouldn't. The financial hit to the program would be devastating.

Tiller had already taken the Purdue job before that game. He never gave wyo fans a chance to forgive him.

Can't really fault Tiller for accepting the Purdue job at the time. The increase in pay was very substantial. I would love to see Tiller come in as a "consultant" to make coaching hires. Maybe bring in Brees to coach the QBs when he retires!! I know, its a far-fetched dream.
