The fact that Wyoming's biggest recruiting tool is that we are a D1 team is why we constantly struggle.
That means we are going after mid to upper level FCS talent.
Of course, there are hundreds of kids every single season that get over looked. Our goal is to just get them all I guess.
But when Utah and TCU were getting good, they weren't getting recruits because they were D1. They had tons of other D1 offers as well.
We just need to get into bowl games before we can get the better recruits.

Also spot on. Coaches can't waste their time on talent they know they aren't going to get. They know what they're up against and they know that Wyoming recruiting is all about the "diamonds in the rough", the Brett Smiths, Jovon Bouknights, Marcus Harris, John Wendlings.

We are stuck in limbo man, we have a hard time winning because we are largely made up of FCS talent but we can't get FBS talent because we can't win.

Then there are those of us who are convinced talent has nothing to do with it and it is 100% on the coaches...for you I don't really know what to say. Any coach who takes this job will inherit the same struggles.

Some coaches are more innovative than others. We need to choose wisely in recruiting players, coaches, coordinators, and assistants.

Yup. If we had an infinite pool of players, coaches, coordinators, and assistants to choose from we'd be golden.

I think coach takes this more seriously than we give him credit for.

He hears footsteps from the mob and he wants to keep his $1.25M...

You know what kills me is Boise pays their coach 1.7 Million when clearly he is worth 5 million+, We pay DC 1.2 million, fuck Fresno pays their coach 700k.......

We should be paying DC 700k and using the other 500k to hire a fucking defensive coordinator.

He doesn't deserve 1.25, He hasn't proven to deserve it since he got here. I was mad when they gave him a large contract extension before he proved shit.

Is anyone else worried about our state of recruiting??? It is damn near November and we have 2 commits?!

Well it is December 18 and we have 3 commits. I would say that Christensen pretty much screwed us on this year's recruiting class.

I am sure Bohl will be able to bring in some guys, but I don't expect too many players with other FBS offers.

We will rely on JC transfers once again. Bohl is busy coaching and therefore can't recruit. The window closes in a week or two therefore he will be taking office n the midst of a dead time. The bulk of the JC transfers will be brought in for Spring ball. Coach K is recruiting right now but it is a tall task for him not knowing much about Bohl's system.

I don't see how that is very plausible. To be available for Spring Ball, the recruit has to be enrolled prior to the spring semester (which starts the end of the first week in January). We may rely on JC transfers, but I doubt they will be sought after recruits as most JUCOs looking to transfer for Spring Ball will have made their decisions by the very latest within the next week or so.

JC signing day is today actually. So most should make their decision today with a few stragglers.

Could Bohl have already talked "under the table" to a few recruits who wanted to come to NDSU because of him and told them to hang loose until he is officially at Wyo?

His contract and separation agreement specifically forbid that. However, I imagine we will probably land an NDSU recruit or two. However, it still looks like our class will be composed mostly of players that only received FCS offers.

At this point, I think it may be wise to not sign a full class.

But even the NDSU AD said it's pretty much unenforceable.
Any kid who is a verbal commit can change his commit to anyone else at any time.
A verbal commitment is the least binding agreement in all of college sports.

Yeah that's my point.

The contract says Bohl can't go after verbals, but really, he can. It's unenforceable.

Maybe Bohl can't go after them, but who says Kagilis can't? Who says that the assistants that are coming to Wyo from NDSU can't?

We won't be having any JUCO's come in mid-year this year but I'm sure we will have many that will come in during the summer as mentioned.

Luckily for the coaches we don't need a big class anyways.
