CSU @ WYO Game Thread

Maybe. Sure a lot more hype on our end than theirs. (From the college and hype from the school)

This one stings. Like I said...gut check time for the team. This either wakes them up of we shi ourselves until nov 30
Depends!

Their DEs pimped our line. First game I've been to since home weber st game. Smith looked terrible.

What a beauty of day to get our Asses handed to us.

$150 for me wifey , 5 and 3 yr old.

I wonder how the sunshine pumpers will spin this abortion.

If they're smart, they'll keep their mouths shut! Otherwise....oh, boy....

Bring it!

It was a terrible loss. But for crying out loud it's not the end of the season. CDC officially on the hot seat? Give it a rest. You can only call plays and prepare your team but you can't coach effort. WYO players came out with no desire. I talked with my offense on the exact same thing after a 47-14 loss last night. We were completely prepare, my boys knew their assignments ( things that have given us success all year) They got on the field and there was no desire and no effort. Just like today. Sometimes that's just how it goes. Call it complacency or whatever you want but effort falls straight on the players.

after watching the game on tv it seems to me that the defensive line are having a hard time getting off of their blocks to make a play. I watched the CSU ball carrier run right by an engaged Wyoming d-line player all day. WHen your LBs and DBs are making most of your tackles there is something wrong up front. WE played flat and we were not very focused. Brett struggled all day he seemed frustrated. Rob dropped some big passes and Dom was smothered most of the afternoon. On a positive note I think Tanner Gentry played well. This young man is going to be a good one. Athletics is about ups and downs....the measure of this team will be how they respond. Good thing we aren't on our bye week! Best thing for a loss is to get back out and play!

I'm not a CDC hater....but squib kick before half? Wtf.

Outplayed. Outcoached.

It would be difficult for even the most ardent Wyoming fan to defend this performance today.

Joe Glenn's winning percentage through 4 full seasons and 7 games - .463
Dave Christensen's winning percentage through 4 full seasons and 7 games - .456

Worst home loss to CSU in almost 100 years. If the players can't get up for the sheep, then who the hell can they get motivated to play?

Our d-line is getting pushed around by everyone. We had to completlely sell out on the pass to stop the run. If they decided to play action pass, they had guys open everywhere. We got no pressure on their qb.

Smith did not have his best day. But in his defense, they were getting good pressure on him and our receivers got no separation that I could see.

It really looks like our defense has not improved at all from last year. Very disappointing. I think I'm done wasting Saturdays driving up from Fort Collins to see this. Year 5 of the DC regime and the run defense has been awful in every one those years. I guess csewe is not Idaho or UNC or even a New Mexico team that gave up nearly 60 to unlv. I thought we could run over a bad csewe defense but we made them look like the steel curtain today. The year is over. I hate to think what the home crowd looks like for the last 2 games. I don't think its coaching. It's recruiting.

Our offense was terrible against a bad defense. We've been figured out. Smith missed reads all game long and had several bad throws despite wide open receivers on the edges. He's not going to the draft - today showed that even though he's a superstar when he's hot, when he's got a bad day, he's terrible.

Yeah we were outplayed. Our special teams calls are not made by CDC. I was watching, his head set was off and he was talking to Smith and a few other offensive players. I don't know who made the call, and yes it was a bad call. But it wasn't CDC.

And I'm not defending, we sucked. All I'm doing is giving you a coaches perspective. CSU gained momentum on us after several 3 and outs. Herron had no desire to be on the field today. Smith struggled, but when he is putting the ball in your hands, you catch it! Do you want to blame the coach for that? We had 1 guy show up today and give his all and that was Ruffran. You cant succeed with only one guy making plays. I would also say Easton, but his one big run was against backups. Watching this game was eerily similar to my blowout loss last night.
Also, I will not write off the season on losing, and even losing badly to a rival. It's like you all said. It's csu, throw out all the stats and just show up. CSU did, we did not. I doubt SJS beats us on the ground. They really have no ground game which gives us an advantage. I'm over this and ready for next week.

I will straight up keep saying it. You cannot coach desire and you can't coach effort. At some point it falls on the players. This again is coming from an outside coaching perspective, not a fans perspective.

I don't put it all on Smith's shoulders. When the offensive line can't hold a block for more than 2 seconds or your offensive tackle can't protect the blind-side or when one of your best receivers can't catch a ball that hits him in the hands (more than once), it takes a toll. Smith did miss a few throws today, but credit to the rams defense, they kept him pretty much contained all game...

Seriously we need to stop stockpiling wide receiver and running back recruits and get defensive players. It makes no sense wasting scholarships on guys just to sit on the bench. We need faster linebackers and defensive ends that can bring a pass rush. Grayson had nobody touch him in the pocket all day long. Our LBs are too slow at covering backs on a wheel and our secondary is afraid to stop the run.

Kansas, you know the x's and o's better than most on this board, certainly better than me. But one of the things I don't like, that is not an x's and o's type thing, is exactly what you pointed out. Our HEAD COACH has his headphones off and is talking to some players during an exchange of the ball. He already isn't involved in the Defense, and I didn't see it, but now you're pointing out that he's not too interested in Special Teams, nor can he motivate the players. Is he a Head Coach pretending to be an Offensive Coordinator, or an Offensive Coordinator pretending to be a Head Coach? We need a real Head Coach. I'm not going to go on one of my rants about getting rid of him, as I feel we (the people that make the decisions and most of the fans) are okay with the still attainable goal of getting to a Bowl Game. If that's the target we're shooting for every other year or so, then he's probably our guy. No use upsetting the program.

He has transformed our offense with his play calling. He has to call the game, his O has struggled all half and finally got a boost. I expect him to be talking to Brett and the offense.

I just got home from the game. All I can say is we got beat (bad) in every aspect of the game. I wonder if our defense will be rated 124th out of 124 teams this next week? That should que a few members on the board, but they should remember I have nothing to do with the rankings of the defenses across the country. Only our defense, defensive coordinator & assistants, & HC have any control where our defense is rated.

124TH is a little harsh but it is in the 120's

Fair enough, we're getting our asses handed to us and the score gives us a boost, but then due to not paying attention, not caring or a rogue aasistant coach or kicker, we hand the ball back to them with good field position. Of course not all coaches think with less than a minute left in the first half means to take a knee, so they score, they get a boost and regain the momentum.

Sorry about this negative attitude, but the rest of the season, and now next season is looking bleak, with an OOC schedule that features away games vs Michigan State (presently 6-1) and Oregon (presently 7-0). Hell, even next year's "guaranteed win", Montana, is 6-1 after beating our last season guaranteed win, Cal Poly, today.

It seems as if we might go through the Brett Smith era with spotty results and no "big" win in 4 years.

Wait! You mean the 6-1 Mich St team that blew up 0-6 Purdue 14-0? Hmmm? Count out what you will I waiting to see how we do next week to a team that has little to no rushing O.

Surely you're not mocking a team that "only" shut out a Big 10 team. We haven't been able to shut out an FCS team lately. The only shut out we've had the past few years was the 44-0 Border War, but I guess they repaid us for that today.

When it's one of the worst offenses in the country? Maybe. But the point was MSU only putting up 14 on a very bad D. Or did we forget we have been going off on our D?
