CSU and Wyoming in Separate Conferences

Wyoming definitely had a chance to be considered for other conferences despite lower viewership/smaller potential market, but it would've required a LOT more than a few middling years of football. CSU can get away with being crappy football-wise because they have a potential market, and they have a school willing to spend money.

Bohl was essentially .500 during his tenure in Laramie. Respectable considering what he was working with, but not enough to truly open eyes. None of his teams more than briefly touched the top 25 rankings, nor did the team consistently fight for the conference championship.

Had Wyoming reached Boise levels performance-wise for a half dozen straight years, we'd be having a very different conversation now.

I'll give a perspective of a Colorado resident. I frequently drive up from Fort Collins on 287. Once you get north of Fort Collins, there is next to nothing for the next 60 miles. And the outskirts of Laramie are kind of depressing. Broken down mobile homes, the cement plant, the flat, tree less landscape - it's not very inspiring. I think the campus is great looking. Grand Avenue is greatly improved. It's a great vibe. But it's so remote. It feels like stepping into the past. It hasn't changed much in 30 years, maybe longer. The Maverick station is about the newest thing you see coming into town. My friends and I used to have dinner pre or post game at the Calvaryman. Tradition is comforting, but it's not change.
I knew we would be left out of any new conference talk. There can't be many schools who look forward to the inconvenience of having to come to Laramie, especially in the winter. So we are fighting demographics, geography, and logistics.

That all may be true. Sitting in the stadium, you look at the indoor practice center, the HAPC, the Gateway Center. Improvements have been made. I don’t know of a charter plane that can’t land in Laramie, and many land in Cheyenne and bus over Gameday. UW should be graded on the campus and facilities

The tent cities of homeless in Colorado aren’t real special in my view.

This is about what it would have taken. Most people look at what Boise State did as not replicable. One of the things that's hard not to notice in what has gone on at Boise is the unbelievable difference in the city from the mid '90s until now. That economic explosion and their universities athletic success was definitely a positive feedback loop.

Hey guys. USU fan here.

Last time I was here, we didn't exactly part on the best of terms. I still don't get the seething, white hot hate some (most?) of you have for Utah State, and I'm not at all happy about what Boise, Fresno, SDSU, the sheep, and the PAC-2 have done to the conference, but....

From my perspective, and on the positive side, now you have LOTS of schools that you should hate more than us!

Seriously, I hope things work out for both of us, and I hope we end up in the same (FBS) conference. I genuinely like UW, and most of the fans. There are a couple who are a real satchel of Richards. You know who you are.

Go Pokes! Go AGGIES!

Pac-xx, best for Wyoming to get in there, even if it equates to reduced media shares. Take AFA, UNLV, UNM, Hawaii, and Nevada with us. MWC is dead, no exit fees, Pac-xx survives. Get some Boise level success and hammer home that we have OK tv viewership, our tv eyeballs are good enough. Survive for now cuz it will change in few years anyway. Pac-xx won't be an auto-bid conference to playoffs no matter what they think, but they will survive this round. CSU has done the right things (stadium and hype their stupid market) to get there while we stick a thumb up our rear.

Wyo leadership failed hard on this one. Always left standing and never trying to get more. Every school that has aimed higher has gotten there (TCU, Utah, BYU, BSU, CSU, etc.)

This isn’t an option anymore realistically. Dissolution of the MWC requires 6 of 8 to agree. Once Air Force leaves that becomes 6 of 7.

Does Burman bear more responsibility than the AD's from UNM, USU, UNLV, SJSU, HAW, NEV, or AFA?

What are any of those AD's supposed to be doing that they are not? Is there a phone number at the Pac12 that they just didn't call? I guess you can say that we just sucked competitively so nobody wanted us....that didn't seem to carry much weight when it came to CSU.
I think this is a really fair point. I don't share the same anger as most of you towards Burman. We've had some good years. But I have nothing but contempt for Commissioner Gloria Nevarez. What has she done to protect and enhance the MWC? Nothing but silence for months and months after the Pac 12 became the Pac 2. She did not get that deal done. And now...silence. Not a single meaningful comment that I have read. She is 100X more at fault (in my opinion) than any AD from any school in the MWC...including those that left. More proof that people should be hired for capabilities. The next comment will be trying to convince everyone that something bad is actually good. "We have agreed to terms with Tarleton State who brings newness and excitement and represents the very best of college football." Its just all bullshit. At least it appears that Burman was engaged in something. What did Gloria Nevarez do to earn her paycheck? All smoke and mirrors.

I think the pac2 took the main targets that would cripple the mwc. Now they'll look around at others but have the option to choose any mwc teams in the future and the mwc team will pay their own exit fees and be glad to do so.
Yep. The PAC commissioner has read the Art of War. The MWC commissioner appears to have lost one of her crayons and couldn’t get past the coloring book.
