CSU and Wyoming in Separate Conferences

Air Force isn’t paying that amount of money to leave the MWC for that conference and PAC unlikely to cover additional exit fees (they are covering the 4 entirely under the rumored deal). Remember, Air Force still has government checks and balances.

Longer term - I believe they Air Force will probably be in a football conference with Army and Navy but will probably have its other sports in the MWC or some other regional conference.
They also have boosters that could potentially cover it. It's all speculation, regardless.

Well, overnight, the nil, recruiting challenges, and budget challenges excuses for not competing for conference championships just went out the window.

Perhaps the real impetus of this all - Boise’s sweetheart deal that provided them a greater share of conference media revenue. Fresno and SDSU did not believe that Boise deserved a larger share than them and provided them motivation to escape the MWC. Once Colorado State was on board, Boise then no longer had any other viable financial option but to leave with them.

Had that sweetheart deal not been in place, I don’t think the motivation would have been there for this departure for SDSU, Fresno and CSU. Goes to show what deals like that actually mean for conference stability.

I almost hate to say it, but what has Burman done the last 10+ years to be proactive with this type of shit? We are like the dumb kid in the back of the class picking our nose, not even knowing what fucking day it is. I put this shit 100% on him and his lame assed staff.

From rumors I’ve heard, Burman was very instrumental in the WSU and OSU scheduling agreement this year. Perhaps those rumors aren’t true. But without that scheduling agreement, no way OSU and WSU could have pulled this off. So essentially we agreed to our own demise. Impressive.

CSU will throw away almost a century of conference affiliation with us for a few million more a year. Pure, degenerate greed

Our demise was pre destined. Basketball wise, we haven't been a factor in 20 years. In Football, one Josh Allen year got us close and that was it. So we aren't good enough, the market is too small, and schools don't want the hassle of having to get to Laramie. We were always going to be first one out.

Unbelievable lack of foresight on Tom’s part. It’s like finding a wounded grizzly bear, nursing it back to health and later having it brutally rip you apart

The scheduling agreement made this even more expensive for the Pac2. They owe the MW $43 million for poaching the traitors. Each of these traitor schools has been itching to go for years and the scheduling agreement did nothing to change that.

The demise for Boise, Fresno and CSU is pre-destined as well. None of them are making the cut for the eventual split. We could have kept what we had with a smarter approach.

Rumors can be created by a guy who hasn't had a regular boss overseeing him during his entire job. The allowance to grab power and entrench himself into this position have made the revenue generating sports weak and fell behind in the arms race.

But the $43 million bought time and allowed the needed due diligence period to get the media partner on board (with ESPN’s story - my guess is that ESPN is lined up).

I don’t see the transaction as being feasible without that additional time. Otherwise, WSU and OSU’s hand is likely forced to capitulate to the MWC.

I would agree regarding csewe and Fresno. I think Boise still has a national reputation that would get them into a power conference. But, since they couldn't get in the Big 12, maybe you're right.

That is not my understanding of the scheduling agreement at at all.

The Pac 2 paid the MW $15 million this year for us to help them fill out their schedule. We didn't do it out of the goodness of our hearts. On a per game basis, this is likely more expensive than what the Pac 2 could have done on their own.

The $43 million is completely separate and was basically an insurance policy against this happening.

Well this is it for me. I've been hanging on by a thread for a while now with the likes of the portal, nil, 15 year of realignment for greed, doing nothing but making Disney (or whoever ESPN is owned by these days) richer by manipulating government funded universities into an arms race.

Its really time for the government to drop state and federal funding to institutions that are competing in this race. Its nothing more than a sneaky way to siphon taxpayer money into private companies. If they can afford to gold plate the urinals in the locker room, they sure as hell don't need government subsidies, financial aid, and research money.

Careful. Your wife is about to get insulted by our local tactful, graceful poster. You just sent up the Burman beacon.

Would Cal and Stanford come back somehow?
This is 100% what they're all HOPING happens. The reality is that they'll have to invite another 5 MW members so that they'll vote to dissolve the conference and the buyouts go away. Hawaii and San Jose State are completely fucked. We should be nervous for Wyoming.
