Contrary Post Regarding 2025

I have been following as much as I can about Wyoming football. No secret that I am really bummed about the MWC and the Pac It Up conference. For some reason, I have excitement for this year. Maybe I am just hopeless. But I am excited about the stadium renovations and the team. I am willing to give Coach Sawvel another shot at restoring Cowboy tough. I will travel to Laramie again this year and hope that we somehow turn this ship around. I can think of worse ways to spend a weekend than casting for trout and then attending a game and drinking a few beers at Buckhorn as I have done the last 20 years. In any event, this team is too important to me and I just do not see me letting it go. Way too much fun over the years to forget about it. No idea why I feel this way today. New quarterback, desperate coach, new coaches, decent recruits. I dunno but I got a feeling we are way ahead of the team that appeared for ASU and that debacle. Last few games last year showed me the kids did not quit. I am not sure I can either. I will probably love this team until the day I die (so long as we never drop to FCS). Maybe just hoping for some positive thoughts around our team. Talked to a guy on Friday from Tennessee. Man does he love the Vols. He had really good things to say about Wyoming and was a knowledgeable guy. Was at the Wyoming games with his dad. He says...you got a lot to be proud of with that team. And they actually look good in brown (and gold) ;)

Hope springs eternal. I am not sure it is possible to be less prepared than we were last year to start the season; so being ahead of last year’s team isn’t much of a bar.

We will know what we have pretty quickly next year. Personally, I am not expecting a bowl bound team with this coaching staff but we will see.

There were three seasons under Koenning that fit that bill.

To the OP's point, I even loved those teams.

I have no excitement at all to watch this football team. Sawful, Junior, and Johnson are all in over their heads. I won’t be purchasing any football tickets for the first time in years. For me, there’s nothing to be optimistic about.

I also love our Cowboys. I will watch every game on TV. However, this is the first year in a long time that I am not going to fly into Laramie and catch a game. I think the new Landscape of college sports has taken some of the luster away for me

I’m excited. Can’t help myself

It may be my last flicker of the fever I once had. My casual wardrobe once consisted of nothing but Wyoming gear. Don’t have much anymore but I did buy a new hat three years ago. It still looks new. A sure sign I am able to contain my excitement. Vic, Joe and Dave eased me into the world of indifference along with Craig refusing to play offense perpetuating the cautionary approach to open excitement.

If we are able to actually be playing for a top conference spot, I will seriously consider the 11-22 Nevada game.

The other game would be the 10-25 game with the traitor sheep as it could be a very enjoyable atmosphere if the Pokes can send them away with a MWC loss.

Struggle with Akron or Northern Iowa and the TV will be my attendance from long distance.

With that, the little flicker of Cowboy fever says - Go Pokes!

I’m not optimistic on the results but I’ll be there excited for some football and rooting like always hoping I am wrong.
On the more serious analytical side of my hoping I am wrong and there may be a reason to root for some success, I am pinning my hopes on Anderson being a huge difference maker.

The 2024 offense was the worst in my lifetime and there have been some doozies in the time of the MWC. The defense looked horrible as well, but I will put on the B&G glasses and blame a lot of that on the offense. I always felt the Bohl defenses were better than their statistics because they were consistently on the field with Bohl’s patented inability to use the forward pass 3 and out offense.

Followed Anderson at South Lake Carroll in Texas where he would never have seen the field if he couldn’t play QB effectively. Bohl offered him with knee issues and he suffered another knee injury after signing. He is the real deal and if he stays healthy he can be a difference maker which is something Wyoming has struggled with at the QB spot after Allen.

I know one player doesn’t make a football team, but the signal caller on offense can be the difference between bad, mediocre and a threat to the opponent. I think Anderson can be the threat to the opponent and guide this team in scoring some points which is something that didn’t happen consistently for the Bohl years costing the team victories which they could have obtained.

So true about quarterback. Not too many bad teams with a great quarterback. And not many great teams with a bad quarterback.

ASU turned out to be a pretty good team. BYugl-ass was pretty good (vomit).

Nonetheless, Sawheads stubbornness to make a QB change irritated me greatly,

I’m willing to hope for better this year. If there isn’t improvements in coaching my patience will wear thin after this year.

Go Pokes.
