Murray is spot on with this crazy idea to add schools based on the media reach in the area the schools. Sac State’s school university president claimed that the FBS would have access the their large media market. They never one Big Sky Football title when they were in the Big Sky and the attendance at the games were so poor they had to have music concerts after the games to get people to attend. These schools that are in large media area’s like Chicago and Sacramento have so many other alternative athletic events they are competing with. The Cowboys, similar to the Cats and Grizzlies are the pro teams for Wyoming and Montana.Murray did this column on the MWC additions: https://nevadasportsnet.com/news/re...-stroke-but-utep-niu-invites-a-swing-and-miss
I would rather have teams from Texas than Montana. Recruiting purposes mostly. Don’t add just to add, be strategic and thoughtful about the locations that can help our conference as a whole. Hopefully we wait for the tv contracts to expire and see what shakes out. We might just end up back with the defectors after all. Minus the smurfs.
I want Texas teams for football credibility and the fact that they'll spend money on football down there. If Montana and MSU would spend the money to enter FBS and the MWC, they'd be here.I would rather have teams from Texas than Montana. Recruiting purposes mostly. We have a LOT in common with Fresno State. I'd love to be with them regularly.I think we will. I am confident in that Oregon State and Boise State will not be in our conference alignment future. Although I admit I have no idea what'll happen to Fresno and San Diego.
Interesting take.We have a LOT in common with Fresno State. I'd love to be with them regularly.
