Coming in from out of town

Hey guys

Making the trip from the east coast out to Laramie for the weekend. Wanted to post to get as much knowledge, tips, info etc on the best way to spend the weekend and Saturday Gameday pregame in particular.

Friday - Any good restaurants or bars to stop by and hit while in town the night before? Looking for a good dinner.

Saturday Morning/Pregame:
Being from East Coast Im sure Ill be up early and looking to get after it right away.

-What time do parking lots open and what time do they usually start filling up with fans, students etc?
-Do students tailgate in a certain area or is there a good bar on campus (given the game at 5PM) that has a good crowd to watch early games?

One final question on the weather - Im seeing 65 with wind for Sat. Think Jeans Boots a Hoodie and Vest will get the job done or will I need something else once the sun sets?

Any insight in general would be awesome. Looking forward to it!

You cant go wrong with a burger from Born in a Barn. If not that, The Library or Altitude is always a good meal. 3rd street is my bar of choice for a friday night.

I'm sure there will be people tailgating by noon or so around the stadium.

That's about what I'm planning on wearing. Couldnt hurt to have a hat or beanie in case the wind picks up a lot.

Library is a great restaurant/bar. Really good food and fun atmosphere. The band stops in at some point during the night and plays the fight song. 3rd Street a fun bar as well, love their Halos.

Parking lots will be open around 10 I think for a 5:00 game. There is activity downtown at Born in a Barn and The Buck. They serve breakfast and have drink specials.

Students kind of roam and go to someone's tailgate of a person they know or they pre game at a near by house. O'Dwyer's and Mingles are the closest bars to the stadium, O'Dwyer's is the closest though. The Indoor Practice Facility serves drinks and tailgate options as well.

I would think the attire should get the job done. Just depends how adept you are to cooler weather.

Have fun it should be a fun atmosphere!

Awesome you are making the trip!

Friday night - dinner, I would say Roxies and Altitude Chophouse would be the best dining choices downtown. Other than that, there isn't much that is decent. Some mediocre places, but nothing that is great honestly.

Friday night - bar crowd, follow the band! The Buckhorn & Cowboy are the only must-do bars in Laramie. The rest are "to each their own"...(you won't catch me ever in the hipster vegan shitbox bar on first street), LOL!

Saturday - start where you left off, and head to the Buckhorn for "Breakfast at the Buck". Be there by 9am, and have a blast. Work your way to O'Dwyers and then to the stadium. Parking lots open at 8am, but open container doesn't start until noon. Tailgate in the IPF (is kind of lame being inside) but if you are old as dirt, you will like it like our old shitty fans do.

When the game ends, the temp will be 45-ish, and windchill 30-ish. So dress like it is winter, you can always take shit off...but if you don't have it, you could freeze your ass off.

most of these guys have said it all, Born in a Barn and Buckhorn early Saturday, can't go wrong! Have fun and welcome to Laramie, Wyoming!!!

Is Born in a Barn really that good? I tried them a few times the first year they were open and they were awful every time. Better wings can be found at the food truck, better beer can be found in plenty of places...

Just pick a tailgate pretty much anywhere on game day. You shouldn't have any problems making friends and scoring an adult beverage or four. A lot of good food as well. Several have outdoor TV's with satellites set up to keep track of the earlier games.

Get in the gate to the game early, or go in early and get a re-entrance stamp. The lines to get in the gate have been pretty gnarly!

Call me crazy, but I like the Cavalryman.

I don't think you're crazy. I haven't been there in a decade, but it was great then, just quite spendy (as it always has been). I can't imagine it's gone terribly downhill since. Or at least I hope it hasn't.

Next time I'm in town we're going to the hipster, vegan places for some tofurky tacos and lightly chilled skim lattes.

Born in a Barn is a badass burger place. Unfortunately the owner is a big (Huskers Fan).

Still - its a good burger. Anongs is a great place. Buckhorn is a fun bar. Its all fun!

Looking forward to it. Appreciate all of the input.

Sounds like I will be hitting "Breakfast at the Buck" and maybe stop in Born in a Barn at one point as well. Looking for a bar scene for the morning (12PM EST east coast games) and then will head to the lot for tailgating by around 1PM MST for the games Im thinking.

Anyone here setting up tailgates in a certain area? Ill be roaming the lots (with beer)

I sooo love Born in a Barn, I'm just glad it wasn't there when I was in school, I woulda never left and proabably pushing 300lbs plus. it's just a good addition to Laramie, a must go everytime I'm in Laramie and that's quite a bit, LOL

I like their burgers, their wings are crap. Get the pub chips and don't get their hour old bar fries as a side. You can also go around the corner to the crow bar. Kinda hipster but great pizzas and burgers too. Also best tap beer selection in town. Find the double dubs wings truck in town if you want wings. If we somehow pull this off, the party downtown will be nuts.

Front street has a pretty great tap beer selection and Coal Creek has the best beer.
