Coffman 'significantly ahead' of WYO QB's from year ago

Wyoming offensive coordinator Brent Vigen stopped just short of hyperbole in describing his satisfaction with the play of senior quarterback Cameron Coffman through six days of practice.

“I don’t want to say light years, but pretty significantly (ahead),” Vigen said when asked where Coffman compares to UW's quarterback situation at this point last season.

“I think both his experience and his ability is a little bit different,” he added. “And I know depth-wise with Josh (Allen) in that second hole, we’re much, much different from where we were last year.”

Vigen and UW coach Craig Bohl named Coffman the Cowboys’ starter early on during spring drills, and he’s done nothing but solidify that label thus far this fall.

And now...for the rest of the story--> http://trib.com/sports/college/wyoming/football/coffman-significantly-ahead-of-wyoming-s-quarterbacks-a-year-ago/article_90190451-7c0b-597a-9df6-16f1ae13cb64.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My expectations continue to rise for the opener. If Cam is that good + the run game, 38+ points vs. UND should absolutely be doable...otherwise this is all hyperbole.

Coffman wins us that game against SJSU last season. Easily. Now can the rest of the team improve 1 win against a softer schedule to hit 6?

I am getting stoked for this first game. Shame it won't be on TV that day!!!

...and he isn't even the best one. ;-) I think everyone will be pleasantly surprised next year! .......wait for it!

Everyone that high on Josh, huh?

Cam and our O I don't think will be the problem. The questions loom around our D.

Coffman and Wick and score 50 points, but if the D gives up 52, it will be business as usual. :( ala SJSU with Fales

If we don't stomp UND, which I think we will, it's going to be a long season.
Yeah, I'm just saying....if everyone is right and we're "gonna be way better on offense"...there is no reason Wyoming can't score more than 38 on UND and EMU. If they can't do that, this offense isn't nearly as awesome as we hope it will be.

Get it done! Great offenses don't struggle with low-level FCS teams.

I wouldn't get too excited about that. Coffman is replacing a guy, who as we all fondly remember, once rolled out for a pass, had a guy standing wide open in the end zone, but decided the better play was to throw the ball away.

Yet we still won 4 games.

A significant upgrade at QB could've made us bowl eligible last year.

Yes I supposed you're right about that, Josh.

If Kirk just throws the fucking ball we win 5.
Changes the momentum for the season really. We aren't already eliminated when we play NM coming off that blowout of Boise.

But then again, in a strange football-karma sort of way it's all evened out for us.

We "should have" beaten SJSU the same way we "should not have" beaten FAU.

We picked one up, we dropped one, all good. Wyo played like a 4 win team, and was a 4 win team.

Still though, Kirk sucked. Flat out bad QB. Coffman should be much better. The team should be better all around. Year 2 in Bohl's system. Time for some tangible results. And results aren't just "oh the line played better", it's WINS. You play to win, not to lose pretty.
