Closed Door BOT Discussion

I don't understand the "Laramie is hard to get to" argument. The flight from Denver to Laramie is an easy 45-minute trip on a freaking United jet! Don't all schools have their own charter planes that can fly nonstop right into Laramie?
Football and basketball usually charter. Most other sports do not. The United flight isn’t always at a workable time and it is expensive (especially trying to get 20 or so seats on it). Laramie has poor air accommodations. Realistically, Cheyenne needs to get a twice daily commercial flight to Salt Lake thru Delta and/or a flight to Las Vegas to provide any improvement to the situation.

We can defend Laramie and argue until we are blue in the face that all the reasons people hate Laramie are not actually correct and it won't matter. Opinion is opinion. The media, conference-mate fanbases, and even conference-mate administrations have spoken. They hate the high plains. Now...Does the blame for this lie with the tourism board or Burman or the Laramie chamber of commerce for not having an effective marketing strategy? Maybe...but I doubt it. I love laramie but I have had a lot of interaction over the years with people I respect who have either lived there or spent time there and they just don't like it. It is what it is. The answer is to field great teams...There is no other way.

Laramie is a tough place to play and travel to, maybe?

Could be looking closer at the program now because of the drama and seeing how trash it is this season. Bad time to be a bad program.
I do get this. But the ewes FB program has been a disaster since Lubick. And others would have Hawaii over UW?

We are our own worst enemy, no doubt.

Indeed, BYU stayed in Cheyenne but flew a 757 charter out of Laramie back to Provo.

It’s a zero percent chance now really. You think Air Force and UNLV will agree to give up their huge bonuses at this point? And why would the PAC teams agree to anything that provides UNLV and AFA of all teams additional revenue?
Couldn’t all these agreements just be voided in the case of a merger

Sure if all the parties agree to ‘void’ them. Why would UNLV and Air Force agree to that? It’s the same thing as when the MWC tried to have a secret vote to eliminate Boise’s yearly $1.8 million deal. You can’t just unilaterally decide not to pay the consideration you already agreed to provide.

Because it might be (probably is) in UNLV and AF’s best interest to be in the PAC 12.

Be interesting how it shakes out in time for revenue sharing where the the real wannabes will try to move up.

Could Boise revenue share with the players and still be sustainable? Man, I hope the big 10 and the sec do something fast. Wouldn’t be too bad if the top 32 or so broke away.

At this point, the MWC should go get UTEP, NMSU and pay half of the FBS fee for Sac St. to move up. Takes away all of the available options for the PAC (or makes them overpay to get those teams from the MWC). Having Sac St and SJSU in the same conference would kill any arguement Fresno has about media markets.

I’m glad SJSU and Wyoming both survived this. As a lifelong SJSU fan since I was 2 weeks old and Wyoming Grad (and current grad student), I was not willing to support either of them if they went to the FCS, so I’m glad I don’t have to make that decision.

Also, does anyone know the visitor section for the CSU game? Stopping off on my way from Tennessee to San Jose that weekend and want to sit with Wyoming fans.

Welcome to Wyonation. I agree with your sentiments! No clue on the CSewe section, as I didn't look for tickets, but that said, if WYO and CSewe continue to lose, we will have our choice of seats on stubhub, for dirt cheap.

I’ve been keeping an eye on the board since I started as an undergrad in 2015. Posted a few times here and there but don’t usually get into the discussions. Mainly post around times when Wyo and SJSU play in either football or basketball. Correct misinformation here just like I correct misinformation on the SJSU board about Wyoming.
