Closed Door BOT Discussion

Have the departing 5 officially notified the conference or still just verbal? It's interesting that their basis for still voting is that they didn't send written notice yet and now the pac lawsuit? This was planned and I'm not sure it's working? A lot of shady shit going on

Air Force and UNLV are staying. Both getting $25-$30M payouts.

Hopefully we get $10M?
Have no clue how this posted 2Xs.

Going to see more craziness from the desperate PAC and departing 5, is my prediction…. The PAC deal isn’t that great at this point.

I hope we vow not to play any of them again. I’d rather see a schedule agreement with the AAC and a P4 every year on our schedule. This news of staying together is still temporary, but at least it sounds as though it’ll last for at least 2 years. Hopefully GN has some great ideas for expansion and the MWC can rebuild into a better league than the 2pac. We’re pretty equal at this point, so I have confidence she’s making the right plans.

The PAC is a better conference by every measure but we survived and will have enough money to fire the football staff and build one that absolutely should be able to win conference championships with our new makeup.

This is a win for the MW, if they actually unite this time. I’m not a huge fan of the unequal distribution, but from what I understand this is just a one time payment and not revenue based.

MW needs to be firm in the negotiations/lawsuit. If we can get the collusion money plus the exit fees (and not negotiate down too far), then there will still be plenty of dough for everyone.

Go get a Texas school and Sac St. The PAC may be a better conference overall, but they aren’t securing a much better TV deal (if at all) then what the MW has now. They can try and push P4 level spending for their members on athletics, but the revenue stream isn’t going to be there to support it.

They are in some serious trouble if the collusion fees + exit fees stick.

I'm not sure how fee negotiation works in these situations, but I'd love to see MWC holding out of the full fees considering they're active trying to destroy the conference.

The MWC has committed roughly $60 million alone to just keeping Air Force and UNLV. I can’t see the exit fees being negotiated down really.

The next maneuver for both the MWC and Pee12 is getting to 8 teams.

The Pee12 has to add 1 more while the MWC has to add 1 for football and really 2 since Hawaii is a football only member.

The big question now is who to pursue as the bidding might be at a premium to pursue the best of the rest. I don’t have specific numbers but it appears the least expensive options are the CUSA or add an FCS.

Geographically and cheapest of the FBS options probably would be UTEP and NMSU. I wouldn’t mind the MWC trying to stick a fork in every Pee12 target. It would be funny as hell to see the Pee12 have to go to the FCS just to get their 8th.

One way or another both the MWC and the Pee12 will get to the minimum number and the irony will be it could have been avoided if the Pee12 would simply have merged. If a team was dumped it may have been Hawaii since they were football only.

The original intent was to be the next super conference with the Pee12 logo but no media offer was on the table and all that has happened is a weakening of conferences in the west.

AFA, UNLV and Wyoming are the full time MWC members with the largest athletics budgets with Nevada, UNM and SJSU exceeding many CUSA, MAC and Sun Belt members.

I never hear anything about the MAC and just don’t see any good fit anyway. The Sun Belt could have a couple of options but I think it would be hard to lure any program without paying a higher price than exit fees.

The CUSA gets under $1 million per school in TV and has lower exit fees ($4 million?).

The way I see it is having to spend over $5 million regardless of any available FBS team or getting FCS teams.

I also don’t think there will be any TV deals in 2026 that exceeds the AAC for either the Pee12 or MWC.

It may be a temporary bitter pill due to the condescending movements based on projected superiority, but the Pee12 and the MWC could drop their differences and join together making a conference that seriously contends as the premier Group of 5 with the best TV deal possible. In the next few years it all may be irrelevant anyway with the formation of the super division and then everyone else.

I'd still prefer to see a merger. Seems like the best outcome for everyone. Original PAC members may need to swallow their pride and come to the realization that prestige of the old PAC12 no longer exists.

Maybe this is more of a realistic chance now that they're likely on the hook for a huge payment to the MWC? That's a lot of money to spend just to become a slightly better MWC.

It’s a zero percent chance now really. You think Air Force and UNLV will agree to give up their huge bonuses at this point? And why would the PAC teams agree to anything that provides UNLV and AFA of all teams additional revenue?

In their condescending minds they didn’t even want USU. I don’t think any of the best FCS teams bring anything to the table and the Pee7 even felt they were superior to AFA and UNLV.

The big middle finger to those attitudes because if any merger now were to occur it better be financially lucrative.

The way things go I can still see some attempt to destroy the MWC but the Pee2 blew it by not luring more than 4 to begin with. They gambled Sheep State and the others would make the AAC teams come running.

It might be who can lure UMass and which CUSA teams. UConn won’t ruin their basketball for the west.

That’s why I think it’s CUSA, FCS or merge and drop the money issues and join together to be the best of the rest in the west.

Other than the fact that everyone has tried to screw UW this would be the best option for both conferences and schools. But I’d always have a distrust and stronger dislike for the schools that tried to screw us and the conference. It’s really sobering to read others message boards and see how much they don’t want to be in the same conference as Wyoming. I don’t get it.

They don't like getting beat by such a "small market" school. Plain and simple, it is all egos and attitudes.

Laramie is a tough place to play and travel to, maybe?

Could be looking closer at the program now because of the drama and seeing how trash it is this season. Bad time to be a bad program.
I don't understand the "Laramie is hard to get to" argument. The flight from Denver to Laramie is an easy 45-minute trip on a freaking United jet! Don't all schools have their own charter planes that can fly nonstop right into Laramie?
