Great meeting with awesome attendance from the Cowboy faithful from Colorado.

MUCHO THANKS: Thanks to Tom Burman, Tim Collins and Mara Cosgrave in coming down from Laramie. Mara will be the new coordinator/contact for Colorado and she has a big task with the huge Colorado alumni base.. Everyone appreciates her commitment and energy and since she is from Thornton she knows the Colorado area very well. Discussions are under way to expand the CIC type of event into southern Denver area this year as well, but with the understanding that it not undermine the huge gains that we have made with the northern Colorado breakfast.

HOUSE KEEPING: The next CIC breakfast will be the morning of the Gardner Webb game on September 2. Put that date and 8:00 a.m. on your calendar to start the first home game with breakfast at CIC , Johnson's Corner--Exit 254/Campion Exit I-25.

YOU THE LEAVE THE EVENT: With a huge amount of respect of Tom's efforts and you can see how he has grown into the job. He is brutally honest and admits errors and he does not self promote himself at all. During the multiple UW Presidency changes he was the the consistent point of contact during those turnover with the state. He took the reigns and engaged himself with state leaders, state legislators and the governor where he could have easily sluffed off lack of progress with the flux/changes of UW presidents. Since he was the constant contact the state leaders looked to him for input and help with budget issues at UW athletics. The contacts and relationships paid big dividends to the program the last few years and probably the success in the budget issues in 2016 could be directly attributable to these relationships that Tom forged.

HERE IS TO YOU DC POKE. Sorry, but eastern games not really a high priority. Coaching staff doesn't think they pay much dividends in recruiting since that is not an area of focus for the Pokes. Efforts were made with Northwestern, but that seems to have fallen from a possibility. DC you get Clemson, but Burman acknowledges when they were scheduled the Tigers were not the powerhouse that they are now.

THE AA
: The new entry area will be a major improvement of what was there. Well deserving tribute to Kenny Sailors and the national championship team will be evident.

THE HAPC: Will be one of the top facilities in the nation. The best in the MWC--a no doubter.

THE IMAGE, VISION AND MORE:
The west stands and press boxes are obviously in need of repair. The budget and funding cuts with other priorities definitely impact that renovation. This time we have this newest downturn; Tom has great concern that this is where the national press and visiting fans use that lead to the undermining comments that UW always has to deal with. The money pie is only so big. The gateway entries at the SW and SE gates are in line for enhancements to help create a better look going into the stadium. A comprehensive study was undertaken in 2012 to make UW great in all sports, there is progress towards that, but once again funding cuts, and certain assumptions changing due to the Wyoming economy have or could put more strains on the budget. Assumptions that tuition costs for the athletes would be covered, that certain tuition waivers would continue as well as health and benefits staying in place are all being now looked at for budget balancing. These assumptions are all subject to being negotiated and if so to the detriment of the programs.

THE NEW TV DAYS: Those deals are changing. The ESPN decline in future revenues is there and dramatic with the Millennials approach and reliance to television. The MWC, its Presidents and ADs want to not go backwards in funding, but look at the alternate media sources such as Net flicks, Facebook, Hulu, and Amazon for possible deals to take advantage of the new era of fan accessibility. Secondly, reevaluating control over kickoff times and limiting those 8: 30 p.m stat times and or/eliminating them to some further degree are a high priority with the ADs.

December 3, 2016: Did we luck out with the weather that night or what!

BEER and THE BEER GARDENS: Bids came in twice as high as what was budgeted. It is to be done correctly, so the introduction of such facility may possibly be in two or three parts so something isn't built and then torn out later. The wrist bands will be able to be purchased early in the IPF before the game to avoid lines. So if you are buying beer/wine get your wristbands early in the IPF. Each wristband will have tabs to limit sales as much as possible. Are there ways around that certainly are, so some self restraint and common sense should kick in as well! The plan is for 12 points of sale areas. Financial boom due to beer and wine--that is not happening in 2017 since any revenues will go towards payment of the infrastructure costs to place the product in the circulation this year.

P5 and those teams. The idea is what W Y O needs to do, is first be competitive in the MWC and then be a consistent champion contender. If things present themselves for P5 entry that would be great, but at this time the program needs to get to the top of where we currently compete in. Once we get there things will resolve themselves. The last go around with the Big 12 if there had been a selection the TV market share would have controlled and those two teams that would probably have been called are Houston and Central Florida. CSU and Boise State being offered , probably not that last time. Big 12 given the contract to 2026 will probably not change due to money issues.

EARLY SIGNING PERIOD. As we all know Coach Bohl was in favor of it.

JOSH ALLEN AND THE PUB. Josh is well grounded as are his parents. The big challenge is balancing the demands on his time. The feeling is he will get thru this with the support of his parents and his family. More importantly the presence of Coach Bohl will certainly act as a governor on that carburetor.

W- Y- O CHEER; Maybe twice per game now! Mara is aware of this and comments regarding game time feel importance

THE BOTTOM LINE. Money controls. Wyoming funds UW on a higher per capita than any other state institution. A balance vs affordability a keystone of UW with the need to increase revenues. Winning would resolve much. Going back to the beginning the contacts and relationships built in the last 5 years will keep the program moving forward. Coach Bohl has great abilities with the financial outreach and that will only get better as he stays at UW.

Those that stay will be champions !
