Carta Samuels has left program...

very disappointed because i was a huge acs fan, thought he fought his tail off, no lack of effort on the field....BUT if we win 8 games next year i wont care who is at qb.

8 wins was my expectation level at the end of the season and i still feel anything less will be a dissappointment. i still think DC can get it done, but no free passes due to defections.

Well put, If we have a good season next year I don't care about who our starters are. We shouldn't lower our expectations.

haha, yikes. then again, it's not like he looked very good last year (and neither did the o-line, so not sure if it matters who's at qb).

I have to agree that he didn't seem to make the reads he should have. Then, it appeared that DC lost confidence in ACS by going to a very conservative game plan. The whole TCU episode may have been a bigger problem than we know. I liked ACS and thought he was always running for his life. He seemed like the perfect guy to run the spread. But he wasn't the most accurate thrower and his arm strength was iffy. Still, given what he had to work with and his great scrambling ability, I thought he was probably the 4th or 5th best qb in the conference.

I wish nothing but the best for ACS. I hope this decision works out for him but I can't see transfering to a JC after almost 3 years of school (assuming he redshirted a year).

I think the onus is now on DC to produce a hell of a qb.

I keep wondering about this as well. The "injury" seemed really iffy to me... I didn't buy it. I kept thinking there was something more to the story..

Gagliardi has more on ACS leaving: http://wyomingcowboysblog.com/2011/01/10/more-on-carta-samuels-leaving/

I defended others leaving the program as " no big deal" but losing a two year starting qb is fucked up. Is DC a big enough asswhole to get guaranteed starters to leave? Apparently so. I was so optimistic for the upcoming season, but this s##t can't keep happening. Hopefully Brett Smith turns out to be a stud qb or Pittser decides to stay. Otherwise we are fucked and then some.

I am off the DC bandwagon and here is another reason to fire Tom Burman.

Your stupid for even saying a word. So stop now.

Somthing like...

I know WyoNation is scratching thier head right now, but some things happen for a reason.

And...

So proud to be hear, so happy to be here, I LOVE Wyoming.

I was extremely dissapointed when i heard the news but now im over it. If he doesn't want to be the qb of the wyoming cowboys then good luck to ya sailor. Im actually excited to see what the younger qbs have to offer. Lets be honest ACS was a scrappy overachiever. I admit I was a huge fan of his but he didn't have that strong of an arm and often wasn't very accurate. In my opinion he was an average qb with a knack for making plays. Will any of the redshirts or incoming qbs have the same playmaking skill i don't know but I think we have more upside with one of them then we did with Austyn.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

2 things are certain from my point of view

all the wyo number 5 jerseys are gonna go on hella clearance to make room for the 32's

nike is gonna save bank on those iron on letters from austyn's nameplate

but seroiusly this kinda sucks...but there goes the way of college football...turnover is the biggest challenge of coaching at the college level

I loved to watch ACS play but I'm not going to lie I'm not surprised at all last season he played like his head was somewhere else. His first season was awesome last season not so much. I really hope w/e he has going on he gets straightened out worked out for himself.

Something you grow to become use to as a Cowboys fan once a Coach has a great season or gets recognized for their skill some bigger school gobbles them up. Seen it happen so many times I've grown use to it Sure I hate it but I have faith in DC to run a program solid the thing that worries me is a lot of kids just aren't interested in that no BS program.

It will sure be interesting to see where ACS end up. I can't really see it at a big time program. Sure, he'll be like a JC transfer with two years of D1 experience, but most big time program recruit QBs as freshmen then kind of bring them along through the program until their ready to play jr. or sr. year. I'm sure there are exceptions - didn't Cam Newton do something similar? Anyway, I'm thinking San Jose St. or a similar type school is where he'll probably end up.

I think the only people who truly know why ACS left are him and his family....possibly some players. Regardless, something doesn't feel right about this. I feel the coaching staff might need to be evaluated.
