What is it about a loss that causes us to turn on everybody. I see this on the football side as well. It goes something like this:
1. Pokes take a tough loss.
2. Fan expresses disappointment.
3. Other fans excoriate and insult disappointed fan for the temerity of having been let down (for the billionth time if you are a cowboys fan).
Or:
1. Pokes take a tough loss.
2. Fan expresses hope/optimism.
3. Other fans excoriate and insult hopeful/optimistic fan for the temerity of trying to see the bright side of a disappointing loss while enjoying cowboy athletics (for the billionth time if you are a cowboys fan).
Can we have a moratorium on the attacks and keep the disagreements civil? I think I've been both of those fans and have probably inappropriately piled on the fans I disagreed with. I can disagree with you and feel disappointment or optimism that you don't share with me but at the end of the day we are all here because we are, perhaps, un-healthily attached to the outcomes of a mid to lower tier college athletics program.
