Burman...good grief man

I have no problem with the way he schedules OOC games. It basically the luck of the draw.

I don't either. What I do have a problem with are those wishy washy fans who say, "If they want to fill the stadium, bring in some good competition. We never see any big programs come to Laramie." Then we do with Virginia (no problem there) Everyone was happy. Then we got Texas and Boise st. And the expected happens, we lose. Now pretty much those same fans that wanted these games are crying about it. It's sad. Get over yourselves and just enjoy your team.

The problem is that everybody has gotten sick and tired of losing. Once we start winning, the fans will start heading back to Laramie.

Not a soul has seemed to grasp the point I was making: that it was inappropriate for Burman to broadcast his disappointment in HIS team during the low point in a season that has been incredibly difficult and is not going well. Let's not forget that this is largely owing to Burman's own ill-conceived scheduling that set the team up for failure to bring $$$$$ into the department coffers. As somebody on GoWyoGo said : "Why not more Toledo and So Utah and less Texas and Boise State...?" I'm sure the coaches and team are asking the same question. Fine time for Burman to start "getting behind the team".

We went 2-2 in OOC play last year and 2-2 in OOC play this year. What is the difference? In fact, the OOC results are eerily similar:

FCS Game: Home game against regional FCS foe (WSU, SUU). Both games had similar margins of victory (29-22, 28-20) although they arrived at those margins in much different ways.

Road FBS game - Lower Tier: Road game against a MAC or Sun Belt school (FAU, Toledo). Once again similar results, both were close victories over teams that are dangerous, but not quite on par with mid or upper tier MWC schools.

Road BCS AQ game - Road game against a mid to lower tier Big 12 team (CU, Texas). Once again, very similar results (24-0 to CU, 34-7 to UT). On paper, Texas was a much tougher game, but they turned out to be very mediocre and the results were similar.

Home game vs. Top 5 teams - Marquee home game (sellout) against a Top 5 opponents. I think BSU in 10 is very comparable to UT in 09. Both were/are national championship contenders. This is the only game that had a significantly different result as we showed up and played Texas very tough for a half last year. We gave up from the start and didn't even try against BSU this year.

To me, the schedule didn't change that much. If we finish 4-8 or 3-9, it won't be because of the OOC schedule as we went 2-2 both years. It will be because we failed to be competitive in the MWC.
