Burman...good grief man

It's all on GoWyoGo...his pathetic, self-serving, limp-wristed plea to the "fans" to help him out of his sad little self-created career bind. The mad scientist, realizing that his experiment has gone wrong...terribly wrong...but all too late.
The board comments are great. Enjoy.

As opposed to him saying "we suck don't bother showing up"...seriously, wtf is wrong with his letter to fans? I would hope our AD would continue to do everything possible to help attendance and the athletic department's bottom line...

sure complain about his Schroyer extension...but not this!!

I don't mind it and actually think its a good note. Face it, our biggest obstacle as a program is our lack of attendance/fan base. Anything to help that counts. Acknowledging that results so far have been sub-par also shows we are being a little more accountable about results on the field (hopefully).

We need more of this.

I hate him just for hiring Heath but I see nothing wrong with the letter and I actually really like the sentiment

I really don't see the problem with it. Just asking fans to come out and support the Pokes. I would actually hope he would send out these kinds of messages.

I like the letter. Recieved one myself. Anything to get the casual fan off their fucking asses...especially the Laramie & Cheyenne (and surrounding area) ones. Now, if Burman could get some people to actually be vocal in the stands...

Me neither. He's absolutely right, we have 4 winnable games, the toughest being the two left at home. More fan support = better chance of winning these games. What's the problem?

I thought the letter was a good thing. Acknowledging problems, and taking some measure of accountability. More than we've seen from past AD's.

To do that he'd have to get the administration to quit scheduling so much crap. The W-Y-O cheer got loud at homecoming, but they stopped it in order to make some stupid presentation. Every break and time out has something scheduled as an advertisement or acknowledgment, and that kills the fan experience. let the band play, let the cheerleaders do their job, and the fans will get loud.

Oh, and actually win some games. That would help too. :D

GO POKES!

I'm plenty vocal, and can usually get the people around me to be vocal as well.

I see no problem whatsoever with the letter. Yes we've played a ridiculously tough schedule, but who the hell could have guessed that Boise was going to be a top 5 team in the nation when the game came around? If I'm not wrong, that was the year we played them really close too. Texas was the kind of game that Wyoming fans have begged to have for a long time, so no problem there either.

That leaves the ranked conference foes. Maybe we should just go play in WAC or Sun Belt instead if fans don't like it. Or why not drop down from FBS so we can start beating up on Montana State, Weber State, etc. instead of playing good competition. I'm sure that'll put butts in the seats. Not to mention, I know the fans complaining would love to see us become CSU's bitches every single year, as that's what would happen. Maybe that's for you, but it's certainly not for me.

It's not just a Wyoming thing. All of Montana's breaks are filled with shit from advertising to acknowledgments to something corporate sponsored. Really annoying. Hell, even when the team is in the red zone it's sponsored by Cenex.

i was annoyed by his tone at the beginning of the letter, kind of sick of the debbie downers (especially from leadership), when the fact is we could be excatly the same team as last year if we win out. yeah we wil have to pull out an upset, but we have come close twice, and it can be done. if we win this weekend i really feel we will be favored the rest of the year.

after that i thought it was smart to point out that we have never pulled a 20+ streak, people like setting records and we should be very into this game.

in all feel burman should be more disappointed in other programs and just pointed out the positives in the letter, but reality is he was probably reaching his target audience better by griping first. although i have prior commitments i had already reconsidered my plans this weekend and this well timed letter just added more to it.

I was pretty happy to get this in my inbox the other day. This kind of communication between the athletic staff and the boosters shows me that they are committed to putting the best experience possible together for the fans. Letters like this will help convince people on the fence to come to the games rather than staying home.

I liked the letter as well. I get email for AD departments for my sons universities and have attended a few games. The emails are well done and informative.

One even offered my wife a football for wives 101 class before a home game.

Wyo is behind the times in marketing and communicating with its fans. This is a step in the right direction.

Not a soul has seemed to grasp the point I was making: that it was inappropriate for Burman to broadcast his disappointment in HIS team during the low point in a season that has been incredibly difficult and is not going well. Let's not forget that this is largely owing to Burman's own ill-conceived scheduling that set the team up for failure to bring $$$$$ into the department coffers. As somebody on GoWyoGo said : "Why not more Toledo and So Utah and less Texas and Boise State...?" I'm sure the coaches and team are asking the same question. Fine time for Burman to start "getting behind the team".

I think you fail to realize that Boise State wasn't a super team when we scheduled them, and that Wyoming fans had pined for a team like Texas to come to town since... 1960? 1950?
I really don't think you can blame him for either of those games. Sure you can't satisfy everybody, but he did finally satisfy all those fans who had asked for a top team school to come to town.

I have no problem with the way he schedules OOC games. It basically the luck of the draw.
